Multicam/synced clips can be optimized to a unified codec for smoother playback. The final output however will pull from the original media so it’s not that important in terms of final quality.

I’d go with a Promise Pegasus instead- a lot more robust and built for editing video. The Synology is more like a home media streamer/personal cloud. Speed is not its selling point.

Hard to really answer this question without much more detail about your workflow such as camera settings, lens, lighting, codec etc. Generally speaking- apparent grain in any sort of footage is due to one or more of the following possible reasons: underexposure, excessive gain or simply a highly compressed camera codec that doesn’t create a pristine signal. 4K is of course not specifically more or less susceptible to this than 1080p or SD would be. It’s always going to be garbage in garbage out no matter the size of the frame- no offense meant.

Permissions are messed up. Try deleting and reinstalling FCPX and then repair permissions in Disk Utility.

I’d go through the usual preferences trashed, etc. Try on a different drive- might be going bad.

Why are you on such an old version of FCPX? That said, has the media been optimized?

A single Library is designed to hold everything from one project. So you’d be better off placing your projects into a specific Event or Smart Collection within the Master Library instead of slicing it up like that. There’s not a way to cross-reference Libraries otherwise.

I don’t think I’ll go for the $17,000 gold model but the $349 Sport one is definitely interesting to me as a gadget, phone supplement and fitness band. (And I’m guessing I’m not alone in that interest but we’ll see…)
