Yep I would not go into the audio components much until picture is fairly locked- to avoid having to redo a lot of work.

Assuming you imported without copying to Library but instead used leave in place. If they are in the Library, copy first then remove the original media from the copy leaving only the proxies. When you go back to the originals Library it will reconnect. I’d suggest FCPXML export/import to go back and forth between the two Library instances.

Sounds a little big. Make sure layers are rasterized- that can cause issues.

I’d guess the studios would ultimately jump in and save them a la Kodak if it really cut down to the bone. Too much invested in the infrastructure.

Yep- synced clips are not as well supported as multicam. But there are many steps along the way for this workflow to work out properly so there are a number of spots it can go wrong. I’d start with a test to multicam and see what happens.

I’d consider hiring an assistant who speaks the language as another option. Otherwise- yeah you need at first a loose timecoded translation/transcript of all the footage you think you might use in your edit. Google away for places that handle this.

Then once you have a completed edit, you’ll do another more careful translation of the final edit for subtitles of which there are a number of third party plugins that can take timecoded subtitle transcripts and turn them into FCPX titles.
