  • Installing new FCP X on a new mac

Posted by Dan Crouch on August 12, 2015 at 5:32 pm

    Hi Guys,
I have just purchased a new mac and need to get FCP x installed onto it.
I have already bought it and have been using ot for a couple of years on my old mac. In the app store it doesn’t recognise that I have already paid for it, I imagine the reason is because it is a new version.

Can anyone please advise me on how to install it onto my mac?

Thankyou in advance for any help with this.

    Dan.

As long as you bought it with the same icloud acct it shouldn’t matter. Make sure you’re logged into the right acct and go to the “purchased” area of the app store. Is it in that list?

Unless of course we’re talking FCP7 and not FCPX?

The app is possibly hidden. This happened to me. Try in iTunes to manage your account and scroll down to Hidden purchases then manage. I can’t test this as I don’t have any hidden purchases. But worth a try.

I’ve had this problem from time to time with different purchases. Each time, I went to Store | View my account and just clicked Done and items that I had purchased that were showing a price changed to say “Install”. Even thought it looks like you are signed in, try viewing your account and press done to refresh it.

In the App store, under quick links open your account and check the settings. manage hidden items so all your purchases are re-downloadable.

There has been no update of FCP X that Apple has charged for.

Thanks for the posts’s guys, I followed your instructions and am now downloading the software.
It was a case of refreshing the purchased apps.
