Also a fast enough GPU on your system will real time preview those so quickly background or foreground rendering wouldn’t even be necessary.

Also Smart Collections can do a lot of the organization for you if you spend some time learning how they work. I rarely consolidate Projects when done because I prefer to have a copy of all media and archival hard drives are relatively cheap.

I use Smart Collections for this. You can refine them with some wise naming too. I.e. Project01A, Project01B, etc and then a smart collection for all files with Type Project and Text Project01- then you’ll get just those, etc.

Depends entirely on the source footage, MVI suggests this is H.264 from a camera? Yep it’s got to be rendered…

That’s because there’s a hardware encoder for H.264 in the Intel CPU of your MacBook Pro that didn’t exist for the CPUs of the previous generation of Mac Pros.
