A lot of editors argue “Bins” are more appropriate than “Events.” And yet when was the last time you hung a strip of celluloid over a canvas bin? “Decades ago” or “never” are the most common answers.
That versus capturing media from an event of some sort: commercial, concept, feature film, etc with a camera. The real challenge/annoyance is that different applications use different terms to refer to essentially similar functionality and that’s confusing.

Boom- Bob is right on. Seiki may not be the most color accurate but you can use them for coasters.

I find these to be very sucky for even ‘non-critical’ color evaluation because even if you tell yourself it’s not color accurate you and your clients will still get used to the color. That said, if you splurge a little and get one of the THX or Rec-709 optimized sets out there they are actually not too bad to look at.
Just make sure to turn off all of the horrible “motion enhancement” functions that are typically enabled by default that appear to be an attempt to make football look more like a video game.

Not sure what you mean but if the Project/Library is gone- nothing short of a Christmas miracle is going to restore it. Have you looked into your Backups folder?

Try exporting to ProRes and then recompressing the result to H.264.

Doubt it- FCPX has very little awareness of closed captioning other than burned in.

Not quite sure what you’re asking but scale and crop in the Inspector are probably what you’re looking for.
