OK many thanks for the tip. What I’ve had to do is to uninstall the current version of Premiere and go back a version and all of a sudden that fixed it. Seemed like there must have been something in there that it didn’t like…
thanks again for the response,

Hi JP,
I’ve been searching the COW as I’ve been having these similar issues in Premiere and I wondered if, almost 2 years on, you ever had this resolved? Mine have only started about 6 weeks ago but I’m spending hours and hours trying to get my iMac to export something that it has always in the past done perfectly.
Hope you can help, I’m unsure of what to try next.

Hi Johnny
i think i have the solution… I was using a camera parented to the null so when I used the Z anchor to zoom in it was increasing the comp size massively.
In reference to your signature, I think I’ve learned about 693 wrong ways to do Kinetic Typography today 🙂
Thanks so much for taking the time to help me, have a great day.

Hi Johnny,
I’m putting all the layers in 3d and using the Z anchor point to zoom into the text – is this not correct?
thanks for answering so quickly,

thanks Jacob, vey helpful.
So using the thunderbolt station produces a good picture quality yeah? Do you have options to change frame rates/PAL/NTSC etc. as you do with Matrox/BM?
But how would I connect my second computer monitor for displaying the FCPX events? Would that need to be HDMI or would a standard DVI work, as my computer monitor doesn’t have HDMI?
thanks again,

Thanks guys
So can you use fcpx over two displays with these units? I use a mbp and it only has one thunderbolt output that goes to my second display at present, my Matrox is connected via the PCI slot which frees up the thunderbolt?Nik

Guys…
As before thanks so much for taking the time to go into so much depth with your thoughts and to share your expertise. It really is a minefield and all I know at this stage is that I’m looking to better my set up i.e. move from an ENG style camera to a more cinematic style model. I guess there just isn’t a quick or inexpensive way of doing it, and the sooner I realise that the better….!
Thank you again, it’s very much appreciated.
And yes you’re right, “horses for courses” is a very English saying, one we use over here a great deal…!
Take careNik

Hi Todd
Here’s the video explaining how it works, I’d value your opinion greatly. Sounds quite interesting.

Thank you so much for your very thorough answer, I appreciate you taking the time. There was also a short film by Alister Chapman showing how the converter worked and demonstrating its use. Yes you’re correct it does seem to go against all the obvious “rules” and that was why I flagged it up, wondering if anybody had any experiences of working this way. I guess I’m looking for a lens that will be the solution for the C300 for most of the time and I think I’m slowly coming to the realisation that there is perhaps no such thing… Have you had any experience of Canon’s 18-200 lens? I’m wondering if that will offer a good degree of flexibility?
Thanks again for your time Todd.
