Working between libraries like that doesn’t work. If you need to use footage from another library FCPX needs to copy it into the library where your project is. You can have your footage and projects organized in different events inside one library.
Its also kind of strange that you were instructed to keep you project library in the movies folder. Everything should be on your Pegasus.
I would open both libraries and copy your projects into the library with the clips. Perhaps that will solve it.
The clips in your footage library are online, right?

You’re right Don, I got something confused (since I don’t get to use that much this year !%#!§#!!!!)
My workflow from within FCPX 10.1 is to create a new Library and then copy the Events to the new Library. Then I consolidate the new Library.

You need to copy the library from within FCPX, for it to create the new links. Moving things manually will lead to some reconnecting at some point.

Its a bug. I’ve had that problem with older versions and with the current one as well. Sometimes when I render manually (ctrl+R) it doesn’t render everything, even when its done rendering, then I turn on background rendering to force render the remaining bits and pieces.

I think it really is directed at consumers not film pro’s. its showing the audience that with a small budget you can achieve close to professional level quality. In this case if you could own a Bentley you should be able to afford one of those rigs:-)
And for the internet this clip is pretty good. And its good enough for TV as well, even with its flaws. Most consumers are not really going to notice a difference.
I actually like the style it has, especially knowing its from an iphone.

You need to put everything in a compound and fade the compound. If you dissolve each layer by itself you will have that problem. Same issue in FCP Legacy.

I tested it with Premiere yesterday, and it is smoother than on X (with fx). But rendering is slower than X, and a composite I rendered with a mask, some cc curves and red’s holomatrix crashed my iMac, but only once. The red universe plugins react the same on X and Premiere, when not rendered.

You don’t really need to render all the time, unless you are using something like Neat Video or a combination of certain 3rd party plug ins. At least in my experience playing back unrendered 1080p with basic effects is very smooth, using better quality playback or proxy, that is.
With BM ProRes 4k it’s a different matter. I use an imac i7 with 32gb Ram and a LaCie Thunderbolt 1 drive.
Editing and playback is fine with better performance as long as you don’t add any effects. Color correction doesn’t affect it much, but turning on stabilization requires rendering, or using proxy. The 4k proxy actually looks very good.
Red Giants Holomatrix needs rendering, Magic Bullet Looks, and probably the rest of the Red stuff as well. Holomatrix doesn’t respond very quickly in 4k when fiddling with the settings.
And Slice X is not really 4k friendly yet. It will make X crash on playback or just clicking around. Even when rendered.
I haven’t used it with Premiere, except for importing to see if it worked. In AFX it seems to work just as fast as using HD. I can’t see much of a difference. Mocha Tracking worked just as fast.

Probably the most important one of all is external power. Pro X sells a 2m d-link to bmcc adapter cable for 60 euros. so you can connect it to v-mount batteries. Roko also sells a short one for 15 euros
Lanparte has some very good and lower-priced rigs. for a basic rig you will be spending about 500 euros and the full bmcc rig costs about 2700. There a many options and configurations. Sunrise also has some cheap good quality rigs
You will need: (in euros)
– rig and/or cage (starting at 200 for basic)
– Adapter cable and V-mount batteries (15 – 60 for cable, batteries start at 200)
– V-mount battery charger (120 for a d-link charger from Beillen)
– V-mount mounting plate to connect to rig ( 200 )
– a matte box with filters (500 + at least 100 per filter) or at an nd fader (100-300)
– a follow focus (starting at 200)
for sunny and even cloudy days outside:
– a screen hood (like the HBM1 from Hoodman for 100 bucks)

Thanks, Richard for correcting me, that’s what I get for not reading the manual:-) I was actually confused when I got it and kept on hitting the iris button wondering how to do it stop by stop, then I shrugged it off as having hallucinated it…:-)
