1. I inserted an FBI copyright warning, but it only displays for 3 seconds then goes on. How do I increase the duration of the image?

You could do this in Vegas and stretch the image to what ever duration you want it to be nda re-render, then reimport into DVDA.

2. I want to display a small icon next to the menu item that is currently selected. How do I do that?

Do you mean like a pointing finger that moves as you select?

3. I want my chapter selection menu to be on the same page as the main menu. But it always give me a scene selection menu which I cannot figure out how to create the links on the main menu.

Create the scene selection menu as per normal and then simply drag n drop the links to the top most menu. Delete the scene selection menu when done.

4. I want the video to just start playing after my menu (background) video finishes (around 4 minutes).

I have to agree with John. I run both versions as well. I did not have to install them in any particular order. However, if you are running firewall or antivirus software, it could be blocking the Vegas executable.

And you have this problem with Vegas Pro 10 x64?

It is possible that your DVD player needs to have its audio settings changed from AC3 to PCM or vice versa. I have had similar problems with older players not being able to handle AC3.

You can also set the audio properties in Architect to render audio in PCM or AC3.

Note: PCM does take up more room on the DVD.

I think to assume that x GB on the timeline using xyz memory is a flawed (and crude) means of measuring memory usage. I regularly dump 15 GB of HDV into multiple tracks. My memory usage will vary depending on filters, effects and transitions applied to the footage.

Running Vegas x32 in a 32 bit operating system environment has resulted in some low memory errors for me, which I get around by running the x64 version of Vegas on my Windows 7 x64 Ultimate system. I have yet to experience a failed render in Vegas that I could not overcome – ever. I cannot say the same for Avid, Adobe and Pinnacle.

What codec does gspot report it is using? It may be a proprietary codec that Vegas has trouble supporting.

I just used Vegas pro for a multi cam edit with filters and effects without issue.

Have you reported the problem to Sony? unless you report it, they cannot fix it!

Have you used any other editing packages? I have used products from avid, adobe and pinnacle, which all let me down in the render phase. Vegas has yet to fail me, and I would have done about 50 projects.

and this is occurring in both the 32 bit and 64 bit versions of Vegas? Are you using the pro version?

Whenever I get low memory errors, I chuck my edit into Vegas x64. Problem solved.

Norton AV is probably set to do full hueristic scanning, which can sometimes report false positives. From memory, you have to have made this setting deliberately.
