Did the AVI come straight off the DSLR, or do you have to transcode it or use some proprietary software to get it onto the timeline?

My system specs: Intel i7 970, 12GB RAM, ASUS P6T, Vegas Pro 10 (x32/x64), Windows 7 x64 Ultimate, Vegas Production Assistant 1.0, VASST Ultimate S Pro 4.1, Neat Video Pro 2.6

It’s straight from the DSLR. It’s Pentax K-r.

What codec does gspot report it is using? It may be a proprietary codec that Vegas has trouble supporting.

Gspot reports it as MotionJPEG (which, from my understanding, is a pretty common codec). Link below to screenshot. Though, I did get an strange result from a different file from the same recording session (screenshot also linked below).

As an aside, googling that program wielded some interesting results :P.

    Thanks for the help!
