Search the forum, as there have been lots of posts similar to yours. Responses by John Rofrano are particularly good and detailed.

Your settings may not be default, judging by your original post. I suspect your original problems all stem to the Deinterlacing method.

To be sure about your defaults, you can force Vegas to return to its default settings….

DVDA should not be re-rendering your video if you are using the DVDA templates in Vegas correctly.

I did suggest a drop in burning speed in my first post! I don’t believe you can do it in DVDA, hence why I use Nero!!!!!!!!!!

I obviously was not clear enough in my explanation.

Uncheck ‘reduce interlace flicker’ for the event. It is intended for stills.

Check your Project Properties Deinterlace method is set to ‘Blend Fields’

Render using a default Mainconcept mpeg-2 DVDA template for your region i.e. NTSC. Change nothing else and see how you go.

I use Vasst Ultimate S which has a photo montage plug-in that does just this, amongst other things. You could trial Ultimate S

Sounds like you have the fx added at the track level. Check your Track FX.

Try this (changes in bold):

The spec is PAL, 16.9 INTERLACED FROM MINI DV, vegas setup is lower field first main concept mpeg2 template 720 x 576 25fps ,blend fields, good,adjust source media ticked,dvd architect pal widescreen,Iframes 12, bit rate constant 8,000,000. event reduce interlace flicker unticked (should only be used for still images) and smart resample.

These settings should be okay for DVD content up to about 70 minutes.

If you need to use VBR for longer media, search this forum for Mark’s bit rate calculator!

When you start messing around with the default templates without understanding the consequences, you can get yourself in a world of strife.

If you are still experiencing flicker, are you mixing DV with HDV or AVCHD events?

Are you cropping your DV footage? Cropping will result in some unusual artifacts, especially during motion/panning.

I am confused. Is the issue with the plugins, or running up Vegas?

You should be able to install both 32 and 64 bit versions of Vegas on Windows 7 x64. If not, your problem is your PC, not Vegas.

Is your version/installation of Vegas legitimate?

The 32 bit version installs into the C:Program Files (x86)Sony folder whilst the 64 bit version should installs to the C:Program FilesSony folder. Or vice versa. I am at work right now and don’t have a Vegas installation to refer to, but they definitely install into 2 separate locations.

I have had no issues of the type you have described. If you have firewall or antivirus software, they could be blocking Vegas from starting. Please check.

I suggest you download the latest updated software of your Vegas version from https://www.sonycreativesoftware.com/download/updates

If you obtained your software from another source, it could have been tampered with. Only download software from Sony.
