Install both vegas 32 and 64bit on same computer
So i installed 64bit windows7 earlier this day, because i currently got 4GB RAM but i get 4GB more tomorrow, so i get 8GB totally. Why? Because i was not able to render movies longer than 1 minute in 32bit vegas using MBL (magic bullet looks)
I know mbl dont support 64bit, therefor i want to render them in 32bit then add them in 64bit vegas.
But i dont success in installing both versions on my computer.
When i install the second version (either it is 32 or 64bit) i must remove both version bevcause i cant launch any of them.
When i only install 64bit my “Vegas Pro 10.0” folder is in program files, and my “Shared Plug-ins” is in program files(x86).
So when i install the 32bit the other “Shared Plug-ins” folder get paired with the 64bit’s “Shared Plug-ins” folder.
What do i do?

32 bit and 64 bit versions of Vegas do co-exist. I have been doing so since version 9.
The installation problems seem to be unique to your setup.
Are you installing as a local administrator?

I am on the administrator user, so yeah i guess i install asa local administrator.
But should both programs be installed in the same folder?

The 32 bit version installs into the C:Program Files (x86)Sony folder whilst the 64 bit version should installs to the C:Program FilesSony folder. Or vice versa. I am at work right now and don’t have a Vegas installation to refer to, but they definitely install into 2 separate locations.
I have had no issues of the type you have described. If you have firewall or antivirus software, they could be blocking Vegas from starting. Please check.
I suggest you download the latest updated software of your Vegas version from https://www.sonycreativesoftware.com/download/updates
If you obtained your software from another source, it could have been tampered with. Only download software from Sony.

Ok, but when i only install 64bit Vegas the Shared Plugins folder automaticlly and up in the x86 program files, but not the .exe file O.o

I am confused. Is the issue with the plugins, or running up Vegas?
You should be able to install both 32 and 64 bit versions of Vegas on Windows 7 x64. If not, your problem is your PC, not Vegas.
Is your version/installation of Vegas legitimate?

MY version on vegas is the Trail, so yes its legit.
But the problem is not plugins, its to launch vegas after i install both versions. i click in the vegas shortcut or the vegas100.exe and nothing happens.

Hi Jorgen,
You should be able to run both programs on an i7 computer 64 bit, but, I would recommend that you install Windows Virtual PC so that the 32 bit software would run in XP mode , otherwise parts of the interface windows and files may exit the program. I had this problem with Premiere Pro 1.5.1 which is 5 years old & a 32 bit application, now it works better than ever.

There is no problem installing both the 32 and 64 bit versions side-by-side. No need for virtual PC. I have them side-by-side and everything works.

You are right, Jeff.
I was using a 6 year old version of Premier Pro and it did not like the i7 64 bit, but, performs faultlessly using Virtual PC and even faster on a Quad Core set up. ?????????
