Automatic Blue Screen Chroma Key Effect
Posted by Ian Mooney on August 10, 2011 at 11:49 amI am using Sony Vegas Pro 10. Each time i add a new video track it automatically inserts a Blue Screen Chroma-Keyer effect. I assume i’ve done something to set this is a default effect or similar but have no idea i) how i did this or ii) how to stop it. Any help would be appreciated.

August 10, 2011 at 2:55 pmSounds like you have the fx added at the track level. Check your Track FX.
My system specs: Intel i7 970, 12GB RAM, ASUS P6T, Vegas Pro 10e (x32/x64), Windows 7 x64 Ultimate, Vegas Production Assistant 1.0, VASST Ultimate S Pro 4.1, Neat Video Pro 2.6

You can remove the FX from the track, then right-click on the track header and select Set Default Track Properties… and make sure that Track FX is checked and press OK. This will set your default FX for all new video tracks.

August 11, 2011 at 12:11 amSearch for a noise reduction plug-in from Mike Crash. It’s pretty good and it’s free.

Depending on the noise you are trying to remove it may not have a large affect. You should see it when playing the video and may not see it as much on a stopped frame because it is removing temporal noise.
If it can’t remove the noise then you may need to buy a Noise Reduction plug-in like Neat Video which will take a noise sample and use that to remove unwanted noise.

August 12, 2011 at 1:16 amCool…
thks for the reply an i also came across some other good plugins on the advice you gave. Tks again.
I have another issue from long time. I have Windows with 4 GB ram. I have lot of lagging issue in my vegas pro 10 when i edit my videos an i am not able to eidit in a way that i want. I am planning to switch to latest with quad core imac an get final cut pro. Why imac for the reason i have read is that imac is more robust machine when it comes to photo an video eiditing.
Do you suggest upgrading my laptop with some higher ram or any other hardware or switch to imac an get final pro. What would be your suggestion.
once again tks for advise.

Final Cut Pro has been discontinued and replaced by Final Cut X.
Read the Final Cut forum here on the Cow and see how disappointed a lot of users are with Apple’s decision to do this and what got taken out of Final Cut Pro as a result of this move.“Why imac for the reason i have read is that imac is more robust machine when it comes to photo an video eiditing.”
Don’t believe everything you read.
Vegas Pro 10 on an i7 2600 processor with 8 GB. of RAM running Windows 7 will be a lot cheaper and just as robust. You mentioned in another thread that you’re using a Canon 7D.
Pro 10 has a lot of improvements designed to make editing footage from that camera a LOT easier.
