If the cutaways are in real time (to another camera that was also running) to another speaker, you could use the multicam editing feature of SVP11.

I was going to suggest Vasst Infiniticam which handles 99 video tracks. I don’t use Vegas’ multicam because I lose event level control. I just like to see all the tracks laid out always. It makes it easier to tweak and fine tune cuts, which Vegas’ built-in multicam makes nigh impossible to do.

Neat Video is certainly the solution I would use as suggested by Mike, but be aware it can soften images and give males sporting a five a clock shadow (from not shaving) a Fred Flintstone-esque appearance.

If you are delivering to DVD, you may find the render process might eliminate some of the gain noise without having to use NeatVideo. My last wedding was shot under dim light conditions and looked awful on the time line, but when I rendered it out and crunched it down to DVD, it did not look all that bad. Give it a try.

As a tip in future (for manually operating your FX7), you might want to limit the max gain to 18dB (I think it goes to 36dB by default) for the High setting, and you could try reducing the shutter to 25 instead of 50 (I use PAL, I don’t know what it is for NTSC), but we aware that lots of motion will translate to a strobing effect, so use it carefully. I had to slow the shutter in a low-light situation where there was a soloist performing, but who was not moving much at all. It turned out great.

Shawn, like you, I was disappointed with the GPU acceleration of my GTX570. I edit multi-cam projects and was hoping to have them fly, but alas, that is not to be. I have a i7-970 and it barely copes on preview set to good.

I have heard that the 2nd generation i5 and i7 CPU’s have built-in graphics acceleration, but I cannot confirm that they will improve previewing vastly myself.

I use Panasonic 83 min DV tapes and like John, have a tapeless backup, a DataVideo DN-60 which records to CF cards.

If you go down the DataVideo option, you MUST use the recommended CF cards and get a Sandisk ImageMate All-in One USB 3 reader. I used two different 3rd party CF card readers and I was getting copy speeds of only 2 mbps. With the Imagewriter, I get the full USB 2 speed of 30 mbps when copying files off the CF cards.

There were definitely two posts here, one by Rehan who started this thread, and a responder, which have both vanished – what the? Whilst the original post was possibly slightly on the rude side, the response was quite helpful and just stopped short of suggesting one reads the manual.

FYI, the original poster could not find the keyframing timeline in SVP11, which now has to be exposed by either clicking on a clock icon or animate button.
