You can change the windows file associations by right mouse clicking the veg file, select open with, select Browse and locate the Vegas 11 executable and tick Always use the selected program to open this kind of file, then click apply.

Or you could open each of the V10 projects in V11 and simply save them.

You render time appears normal for the duration of the timeline. The more FX and transitions you apply, the longer it will take to render

Projects created in V11 can only be edited in V11. Projects created in V10 can be edited in V11, but once saved in V11, cannot be edited in V10. I believe it is possible to do a timeline copy from V11 to V10, but some FX will not copy across.

If your output is for DVD, check your deinterlace method in your project properties. It may be set to none when it needs to be blend fields or interpolate fields.

Ah, sometimes we overlook the simplest of solutions. Reminds of a job interview I went for 20 years ago in IT to troubleshoot a printer problem. it is possible but you would have to hack sv, recompile exe or some of dlls, exchange bitmaps probably…

I would strongly recommend against doing that. The limitation George is experiencing is imposed by Sony/developer. Text titles are generally not meant to be verbose.

How long is the content you are trying to create?

Are you using the DVDA blu-ray template in Vegas to create the render file that you then import into DVD Architect?

Some green drives spin at a lower speed like 5400 rpm and I have seen some non-green drives spin at 5900 rpm. So long as the data transfer rate is unaffected, the slower spinning drives in theory should run cooler.

I shoot multi-cam weddings and collectively I can have twelve hours of footage on the timeline from 4 cameras with a mix of HDV, AVCHD and stills. No problems in Vegas (I am still on 10c, though because of my Vasst plugin).

You need to ask yourself (or your client), do they really need 6-7 hours of product? Are they really going to want to watch it all over again? I tend to do a shortened version (set to music) of the bridal preparations unless there is more significant component such as a blessing ceremony (common is Asian cultures) which I include. Sometimes there is also the groom getting shaved by his best man and then dressed by his groomsmen(Greek culture), but once again, I tend to cut that down to music interspersed with short segments of ties being straightened or a witty comment coming from the father of the groom, best man etc.

I then include the wedding ceremony in full, and the bridal party entrance, speeches, cake cutting, bridal dance, a bit of the guests dancing and departures. If anyone is willing to go on camera for a one-on-one interview, I do that and call it ‘messages’. I also include a photo montage that lasts about 8 minutes and then typically do a highlights version of the wedding of around 10 minutes.

Typically, I start with about 6 hours of footage, but can do the whole wedding in around 3 hours (including the montage, introductions, extras etc) which just squeezes onto 2 DVD’s.

I used to use Smartsound many years ago, but since switching to Vegas, I haven’t used anything. Smartsound does not have a Vegas plugin.
