    1) You could split them across 3 DVD-5 discs as you suggest

    2) You could put them onto one dual layer DVD-9 disc, and using 2 pass VBR settings of min 2640 avg 4400 max 7696 get acceptable output (I am assuming your project length = exactly 4 hours).

Burn the DVD DL disc with DVD-ROM mode enabled to ensure maximum playback compatibility with DVD players.

    3) Render to one BD-DL bluray disc using a CBR of 23850 kb/s, but if single layer BD-R is your only option, then a render of CBR 12800 kb/s may be quite acceptable.

The workflow method Stephen is suggesting called nesting is the correct way to combine vegas projects e.g.

    Create act1.veg and edit
    Create act2.veg and edit
    Create act3.veg and edit

Create a new project called Show.veg and using the Explorer within Vegas, browse to the folder containing Act1.veg, Act2.veg and Act3.veg and simply drag and drop them into the Show project time line.

You can still edit each subproject independently i.e. you can still edit Act1.veg later, and when you next open Show.veg, it will automatically update.

Couldn’t be easier and more convenient than that.

Do you Disable Smart Resample for your projects as a part of your setup routine before commencing your edit, or do you just leave it enabled to do its thing?

[Joao Souza] “Can I copy and paste a track(with all effects and track motion) or just the media in it?

I dont want to import just the media in a track, I want the whole track.”

    Old project:

    Ctrl-A, Ctrl-C

    New Project:

    Ctrl-V

This should copy tracks, events, event FX, sound levels. Clean up and remove what you don’t want.

If you have markers you will need to use a separate 3rd party tool such as that from Vasst to export from your old project and import to the new – VASST Marker Maker and VASST Marker Editor available separately as FasstApps for only $9.95 USD each. This way editors can buy a solution for just the problem they are having without purchasing all of Ultimate S Pro. I am not sure about copying track motion.

Hopefully Guru John Rofrano sees this post and offers his sage advice with respect to copying track motion between projects 🙂

[John Rofrano] “I hope that works for you. Let us know.

Just for other forum member’s information we also now have VASST Marker Maker and VASST Marker Editor available separately as FasstApps for only $9.95 USD each. This way editors can buy a solution for just the problem they are having without purchasing all of Ultimate S Pro.”

The Vasst marker tool saved the day as I was able to copy the markers from the SVP12 project to SVP11 and rerender.

I did notice my template was using the Best render setting and have set it to Good in SVP11. I don’t have any more time to experiment to see if this resolves the issue. I will try it when I have more time.

Basically, everything that Lewis said about avoiding upscaling and rendering to the lowest common denominator 🙂

    John

Do you know if anyone else is observing this flickering issue in SVP12 besides Bob and myself?

[Nigel O'Neill] “Unfortunately I could not copy any of the markers across from SVP 12 to SVP 11, so I am unable to regenerate the master video track in SVP 11”

Correction. Found the Marker tool in Ultimate S Pro and copied the markers. Re-rendering now. Fingers and toes all crossed that after copying the project tracks, events and now, markers from the SVP12 project, I can regenerate the master video track for flicker free output in SVP11.

If this works, John Rofrano’s tool has just saved my b*tt! Again.

Spoke too soon. Flicker is still there. It was just occurring somewhere else. It’s even worse. Grrrrrr!
