You might want to do as Douglas suggested, and obtain the latest version for SVP 9 from Sony directly. Some forums suggest that the error you are seeing is the result of downloading a compromised version of Vegas from a BitTorrent site or similar. You should always get your updates from Sony directly.

Scroll about one third of the way down and get Version 9.0e.

The behaviour you are observing is correct. The changes are not dynamic, in that editing the nested project will not immediately result in the master being updated if all are open simultaneously.

Just be aware that it only affects the selected track. If you have a multi-track time line, auto-ripple can introduce you into a world of frustration, unless you take care and anticipate its impact on other tracks. I tend to switch it off by default and consciously use it only when needed.

I’m running Windows 7 Professional (32 bit) and trying to use Sony Vegas Pro 10…I think the patch is c? I’ve got an Intel Core2 Duo CPU processor and have 4 gigs of RAM. I have CA Security installed and Symantec Endpoint Protection installed by the school I go to.

Ideally, your video editing PC should have neither of these products installed as they can interfere with Vegas. My editing PC is ‘clean’ in that it does not have such software installed. It does not connect to the Internet. It is possible that these products are interfering with Vegas.

FYI, the IT Department I work for that supports my office PC’s has installed group policy settings as well that can have undesirable effects such as that you have experienced. It is possible that you are seeing something similar.

I get this error regularly and ‘get around it’ by using the 64 bit version of Vegas. If you are using a 64 bit operating system, install the 64 bit version of Vegas and it should render.

The 32 bit version of Vegas can co-exist with the 64 bit version. Be aware that some 3rd party plug-ins may not work under x64 Vegas, so you need to check your time line.

Vegas probably won’t ‘rip’ the DVD as Steve suggested because it is most likely to be copy protected. This forum does not tolerate or condone piracy of software and other copyrighted material, including commercial DVD’s such as Zardoz. You are going to have to seek advice elsewhere.

The timing issue is most likely being introduced during the render as caused by the source footage.

What are your environment and operating system specs? It will be useful to us to determining what the issue is.

Are you running virus or firewall software?

What patch level of Vegas Pro 10 are you attempting to use?

Are any other applications on the PC similar experiencing problems?

You might want to try rendering the audio separately from the video and then recombine in DVD Architect.

If you are doing multi-cam editing, I would suggest using the 27″ screen as a minimum for your preview.

I use a 24″ for the timeline and a 22″ for the preview, but once the multi-cam mode is enabled, everything reduces to a quarter size on the preview monitor and can make choosing takes difficult, especially if your focus on one of the cameras goes off slightly.

I am considering purchasing a 32″ Samsung for the preview screen, but then have to explain to the kids why they only get a 24″ TV!
