Nested project – no update in the master project
Hi,
Everything is in the subject.
I have a master project composed of 3 nested projects. When I modify one of the nested project (right click edit in…) and save my changes, there aren’t any update in the master project. To get the changes I have to close the master project then open it again.
Is it normal?
I’m using Vegas pro10c 64bits, windows7 64bits. -

The behaviour you are observing is correct. The changes are not dynamic, in that editing the nested project will not immediately result in the master being updated if all are open simultaneously.

I use the 32 bit version of Vegas but I have never had this problem.
While working on a project, I can open a nested veg file, save the changes and the current project is instantly updated without me having to do anything else. -
So what is the correct behaviour? Automatic update or not?
Should I report this this as a bug? -

I consider this to be a problem with your system and not a bug as, contrary to what Nigel said, it has always worked for me. -

What are the problem with my system?
My master project is a simple 6min video composed of 3 nested projects of approximately 2min each. All the videos are from a sony Z7, HDV 1080-50i. No fancy effect except few color correction.
I am editing this movie on laptop i7-720qm – 6gb memory (may be the reason??).
I have tried using the 32bits version of vegas, the master project doesn’t update as well. -

Have you tried it with just a single nested veg?
Start a new instance of Vegas, add only one of the veg files and see if you can get it to work properly. -
Sorry Mike, it’s my mistake. In preferences the “close media when not active application” was unchecked.
Update of the master project works perfectly when it’s checked. -
