Sony Vegas Won’t Load
Posted by Kaida Meyume on March 25, 2011 at 2:04 amHello! Once again I’m having problems with Sony Vegas…
This time I can’t even get it to open. The loading screen comes up but it always freezes on “Initializing Video Services.” I’ve uninstalled and reinstalled numerous times, and even went in and deleted everything sony-related from regedit, but the result is still the same. It used to work fine but every now and again I get some sort of problem like this at the loading screen. Reinstalling used to work but this time it’s not doing anything. So frustrating! ><Please help. 😀
Edit: By the way, I’m trying to run Sony Vegas Pro 10

March 25, 2011 at 3:03 amWhat are your environment and operating system specs? It will be useful to us to determining what the issue is.
Are you running virus or firewall software?
What patch level of Vegas Pro 10 are you attempting to use?
Are any other applications on the PC similar experiencing problems?
Intel i7 920, 12GB RAM, ASUS P6T, Vegas Pro 10 (x32/x64), Windows 7 x64 Ultimate, Vegas Production Assistant 1.0, VASST Ultimate S Pro 4.1, Neat Video Pro 2.6

March 25, 2011 at 3:10 amOh, right.
Let’s see, I’m running Windows 7 Professional (32 bit) and trying to use Sony Vegas Pro 10…I think the patch is c? I’ve got an Intel Core2 Duo CPU processor and have 4 gigs of RAM. I have CA Security installed and Symantec Endpoint Protection installed by the school I go to.My webcam stopped working (turned on, but the screen was always black) about the same time Vegas did, but my webcam works again after simply restarting my computer. Other than that, I’m not having any other video related problems I think.
Is this all?

If this doesn’t say that your video device driver is suspect, I don’t know what would.
(Just because you can see an image doesn’t mean that your video device driver is working.)

March 26, 2011 at 2:52 amI see. That makes a lot of sense, and I, too, suspected this…However, when I tried to update my drivers when the problem first started it said there were no new updates…

Ideally, your video editing PC should have neither of these products installed as they can interfere with Vegas. My editing PC is ‘clean’ in that it does not have such software installed. It does not connect to the Internet. It is possible that these products are interfering with Vegas.
FYI, the IT Department I work for that supports my office PC’s has installed group policy settings as well that can have undesirable effects such as that you have experienced. It is possible that you are seeing something similar.

March 26, 2011 at 7:05 pmThat stinks…it was working before with both of them installed though…it also doesn’t seem to work any better if I disable them. @_@;

March 26, 2011 at 10:34 pmI recommend running Driver Detective from https://www.drivershq.com/ (Actually a good plan is to run Driver Detective periodically. I doesn’t do anything to your installed drivers unless you tell it to.)

March 28, 2011 at 4:23 amAlright, I did that and found that a video card driver was out of date so I installed it…but Vegas is still giving me the same problem. @_@
