You’ll have to sacrifice some quality I’m afraid. One option, if you use the Sony AVC Internet SD 30p 4:3 preset, is to change the frame size to ‘multimedia'(320×240). you will find this option in the custom tab in ‘video’ in the render settings box

Hi Jamie,
Have you tried rendering to an AVI or mp4? It is worth checking to see if you can render with another codec first. What are your project specs? If it is crashing at the same place it could be a corrupted file. Also what is your error message?

You’ve cleared a few things up for me there. I must be doing something wrong in gearshift though, because when I select ‘none’ in the HD media box, I get a response saying that I cannot select none. What are the steps I need to take to make DV proxies only?

Retrospectively I think the problem, at least in part, is with my monitors. I’ll keep experimenting at least in the meantime.

Thanks for replying John. I think you’re right I should have just kept it as an Upper field project. It’s all very confusing though… it is progressive, but it’s not… it is interlaced, but it’s not. I’m going to go with: it is interlaced from now on I think.

I will follow your advice and change the properties before I render again. Someone else has advised me to render as a progressive to an avi using the CineForm HD codec V2.5, use this as an intermediary and then open a new 50i upper field project and render out as interlaced. What do you think?
