Question about mono to stereo in Vegas
Hi,
I’m recording sync sound for a HDV project which I’m editing in Vegas. The sound is being recorded with a Tascam 2 channel field recorder. On the left channel is a sennheiser lav mic and on the right channel is a sennheiser me-66 shotgun mic. I want to use the lavalier (the shotgun is a backup mic). When I put the audio into the vegas timeline, I get a single audio track with both left and right channels. To separate these I copy the audio to a new track, right click each the clips and select channels > left for one track, then I select right channel for the second clip.
I take one of these audio tracks (the left channel) which is my lavalier and play it back. When the pan slider is set to the middle the sound is a little muddy, when I move it to the left or right it sounds more trebbley and clearer. How should I adjust my settings to get the clearest stereo. (my footage is of documentary interviews so I don’t need 5.1 surround sound or anything fancy – just good clear sound coming out of the left and right channels)
