Thanks Tom. I’m the cameraman and always shoot just enough, never had problem with DVCAM. My tight shooting ratio dosn’t work with HDV it would seem. I’ll try adjusting pre/post roll and see if that helps.

I’ve gone back to doing it the proper way i.e. marking in/out points and doing a batch capture. This works fine, only you still lose half a second each end of the clip; probably down to GoPs though.

So you just have to be disciplined and log and capture everything with timecode in/out points then do a batch capture.

I hope Apple/JVC between them fix the Capture Now feature though as this is handy when you only have a few clips to bring in and you know they are all good.

This JVC gear is history. I’m selling the lot and buying a nice new F350 Sony XDCAM HD camera in Jan. In the meantime I’m a little anoyed that I can’t edit a programme I’ve spent 4 monts filming on these bloody cameras. I could have researched and tested JVC gear before going into a producion; but why should the consumer be responsible for testing and beta testing. JVC and Apple should be the ones to get this gear working so the consumer can buy, shoot and edit.

I won’t be touching JVC gear again. Don’t know about the USA, but in the UK they have always been known as the Junior Video Club, which I’ve since learned.

Thanks Luke. I believe JVC UK amongst other UK customers of the JVC ProHD range of camcorders that shoot in 720p/25p are going to be in touch with Blackmagic USA to also request it.

It will end up on DVD Luke. But that is not an issue. I need to do colour grading off that timeline and BM don’t support it for 720p/25p which is a real bloody drag. All I can get is a still frame on my external CRT broadcast grading monitor.

I had an email from one guy at BM, who told me that they will never support it as nobody in the world shoots 720p/25p. Funny guy.

That is a bit further than I got, all I could get is a still frame that did not scrub, I had to jump to another part of the timeline to get the frame to change.

I suspect I might have to settle for this sort of thing.

If you could test with MXO that would be great.

Nope, Blackmagic don’t make ANY product that supports 720p/25p. Neither do AJA.
