Uli, which is best out of Cinema Craft Encoder and Main Concept?
The Main Concept that I found after searching Google was definately Windows only. Do you have a link?

Great, that makes sense. My friend has FCP 4.5HD and I tried installing Transfer software and importing HD footage. Like you said, could see proxies, but would not import as his version of FCP was too old.

HVX200, yuk, I had one of those, but sold it after just 3 weeks as it was very disappointing in just about every respect.
I wouldn’t have any hang-ups about spending decent money on a half inch lens, if it gives the best quality the fact that it is half inch should not matter, at least that’s how I see it.
I don’t actually own an F350 yet, but am buying one in England UK (where I live) in Jan 2007; can’t wait.
Never tried Liquid Silver as I’m a Mac convert, been on Final Cut since version 1.1, before that was Media Studio Pro.
If Apple went bust (very unlikely these days) and somebody stuck a gun to my head and said I had to use a PC, I’d try Sony Vegas first followed by Edius. I Hate Premiere totally; buggy as hell and overated.

In Timelapse mode every single frame is an I-frame and GoPs don’t come into it. In Timelapse it also goes into standby mode using hardly any power.
You can downconvert via FireWire. Just set it in menus to AV/C mode, which is should be in by default.

Alan. These cams perform better with native 1/2″ lenses that were designed optically for that size chip. I would recommend buying a Canon 19x or 20x Standard Def lens as they perform really well considering the cost.

Sony don’t do a proxy browser for Mac; PC only. The PC one allows for making in/out points etc. If Sony did one for Mac they would be competing with FCP hence they don’t do it.
Closest thing is File Transfer software, but then you need FCP to work that.

Version 1.1 of XDCAM Transfer software for FCP has just been uploaded onto Sony’s website as of yesterday. This could fix your issues. There are new features and bug fixes too.
