Am I the only one who doesn’t think a 2/3rd inch XDCAM HD will arrive?

If Sony bring out a 2/3rd inch XDCAM HD it would be almost the same price as HDCAM, but without HDCAM quality, hence folk might as well just go for HDCAM instead.

As far as Sony UK are concerned it goes like this.

Z1 for consumers, XDCAM HD for that middle-ground, then HDCAM for the high-end professional.

That’s it and I know a few guys at Sony.

If you want XDCAM HD, buy now, don’t bother holding your breath for a 2/3rd version, I doubt one will ever come around.

Where did this picure come from Luke? mine dosn’t have anywhere near that room at the top? Is this a publicity pre-production shot from Apple? they could be different now.

Any date on that 5.7.1 update driver?

When is soon for driver? I only have a 14 day money back warrentee on this so can’t wait too long, can you give me a rough date?

You’ll have to trust me on the card. The card heatsink touches the HD drawers. That picture is deceptive and mine dosn’t have that kind of space.

Depending on when the new driver is out will determine if I can take a photo for you. If the driver is going to be an age the card goes back in the post today so I can get my money back hence I won’t be able to take picture.

Actually, I just phoned Symbiosis in the UK (Black magic specialist) and they said the card does not show up in system profiler.

I do have the Declink controller in the System Prefs though.

Can’t do that with this card, the internal HDs are in the way. Besides, you can configure the slots to whatever lanes you want.

So as I have 4 interlal HDs and the card will only fit in 3 is this a problem. It won’t fit in 2 either because of the ATI 1900 card in there, that blocks slot 2.

3 is the only slot it fits in.

    Ideas?

Yes, all new Easy Set-Up configs are there for 720p/25p and XDCAM HD 35 Mbps variable settings for 1080p and 1080i

September 26, 2006 at 9:00 am in reply to: HDV to SD down-convert method in FCP?

I’m in the UK, shot on JVC GY-HD111 using 720p/25p settings. As I understand it FCP won’t support this right now (anyone know when?), even though I have very latest studio suite of FCP.

So I’m not using 1080i or anything like that.

  • Walter, I’m a tad confused now.

I am going to buy Mac Pro with a few extra internal 500GB drives with latest FCP Suite.

I shoot on JVC GY-HD100 camcorder, which as you know, is 720p/25p progressive, but HDV so it uses mpeg compression with GoPs.

I was going to buy this:

    https://www.convergent-design.com/CD_Products_HDConnectLE.htm

and to go with it a Blackmagic Decklink HD Extreme card.

Okay, footage will be shot on JVC in HDV Progressive 720p/25p mode, the JVC would then be plugged into the HD Connect box via firewire and the footage would be played out natively.

The HD Connect box then converts this footage on the fly as it comes out of either the SDI/HD output socket, or the SDI/SD output socket, then from this into FCP via Blackmagic card.

Purpose: So I can edit uncompressed SD footage which would be better then downconverting from JVC to standard MiniDV format. I also won’t have GoP timeline in FCP. Also in future I can come out of HD Connect box via SDI/HD when the time comes.

You make it sound like the HD-Connect LE box and a Blackmagic card is not necessary? The total for the HD-Connect box is about
