Hi !
If you have troubles with the Project Manager, you can use PlumePack, it’s a third party plugin for Premiere Pro which can do the “Collect & Copy” for FREE. You should not have any errors, proxies will not be copied but more than that, the media structure will follow your project structure (I mean how you put your media into PrPro “bins” in the Project Panel).
You will also have a good report + analysis about what PlumePack will do to your project !
The Premium License of PlumePack is for Lossless trimming (= without re-encoding). It saves you disk space by removing usused frames, but keep your files exact same quality (no encoding), same codec, same metadata !

August 6, 2021 at 9:23 am in reply to: Trimming down huge DNxHR source files for delivery of media-managed project?Hello,
I don’t know any native way for your problem. The Project Manager has a lot of limitations and often ends with the “Unknown Error happened” …
However we develop a third party “Project Manager” plugin called “PlumePack”. It does exactly what you’re looking for. It can trim your files without re-encoding, so your files keep their exact quality, codec, metadata …
By default, if you’re using multiple parts of the same media source, it will create in a smart way multiple outputs to optimize the final disk space taken by the project.
It works with ProRes, DNxHD, BRAW, R3D, Cineform, Image Sequences, … but we didn’t check with DNxHR SQ in particular. However you can check this with our TRIAL !
About the TRIAL : after downloading for free the sofware, you can analyse your project and it tells you everything it should do : which clips should be trimmed, which clips should be copied (and why they are not trimmed), how much you will save space, etc … depending on the options you set !
In case your DNxHR SQ footages are not supported, please send us a message and we could add it to the supported codecs for trimming !
Otherwise, it should be a solution about your second problem : PlumePack can only just “Collect & Copy” and ONLY copy the used media (so it doesn’t have the problem of the Project Manager you detailed).
Here is a full article about PlumePack vs the native Project Manager : https://www.autokroma.com/blog/PlumePack-Premiere-Pro-Project-Manager-Difference
Also, if you have any questions, if you want more features in PlumePack / more supported codecs for trimming, or if you have any issues while running PlumePack, we can provide fast support if you contact us : https://www.autokroma.com/contact

Hi,
Is has been a long time that this post exists, but as some users could read it today I will give an answer.Yes it is possible to export a new cut footage without re-encoding, with any Codecs, it is called “trimming“, but this term is badly used on the internet actually and also refer to other things in common NLEs, so it is difficult to look for information about this.
With time compressed codecs (also called “Inter-Frame Codecs”) (such as H264 for example), you can’t trim wherever you want, you need to cut between “I-Frames”. These are special frames which does not depend on other frames to be rendered, and a “GOP” (Group Of Picture) between 2 I-Frames is independant and so can be “cut” without re-encoding.
There are a lot of others codecs which are not “time compressed” (also called “Intra-Frame” Codecs) and so you can trim wherever you want (All ProRes, BRAW, RED, Cineform, DNxHD, …).
In Premiere Pro, you can do this with the “PlumePack” plugin. It’s like a Project Manager, but instead of transcoding, it can trim without re-encoding. It supports most used codecs, Time Compressed or Not ! In Resolve the native Project Manager can trim, but I didn’t try it a lot, I’m not sure it supports Time Compressed Codecs.

Hello,
I’m part of the team who develops BRAW Studio (Plugin for Premiere Pro and BRAW), so I have some answers about your questions.
So first, let’s talk about LUT inside BRAW footages.
When you’re shooting a BRAW file with a LUT applied (should be a setting in your BM camera), the LUT is automatically added inside the BRAW file. Then, in the BRAW Source Settings, you can decide in post production to apply this LUT or not (same things with other parameters : when you shoot, you can decide to shoot with ISO 400, and decide later in post production to change this parameter to another value).
Note that if you are working with sidecar (Sidecar is a file located next to your BRAW footage, which can give some “default” look” different than when the look decided at shooting time), you can also put a LUT inside this sidecar, and in Source Settings, you will have the choice between applying the LUT “embedded” (inside the BRAW file, so the LUT added by the camera at shooting time), or “sidecar” (the LUT inside the sidecar file).
The default value applied when you are opening a BRAW file in Premiere Pro should be :
IF sidecar is present next to the BRAW file
THEN apply the parameters from the Sidecar
ELSE apply the parameters used when shotSo let’s come back to your problem. There can be several explanations. If you added a sidecar next to the BRAW file (or if there was a sidecar and not anymore next to your BRAW file), then it’s normal if the behaviour changed.
But I suspect more a bug from the Blackmagic Plugin. Note that some bug have been reported for this plugin (Here is a list : https://www.autokroma.com/blog/BlackmagicRaw-Plugin-BRAW-Studio-Difference). I suspect that after you rebuilt your computer, you installed a new time the Blackmagic RAW Plugin (from a newer version ?) and maybe there has been a bug which reset the “Apply LUT” parameter in the Source Settings of your BRAW Clip. Sounds like a bad bug if users can’t rely of the integrity of the Source Settings when updating the plugin … (Updating the plugin should NEVER change the look of an existing project : that could destroy hours of work).
So if you want to have the “LUT look” for your BRAW file, you can just change the “Apply LUT” parameter in the BRAW Source Settings (In the Effect Controls Panel : at the top click on the “Master” tab). But you will need to do it for each BRAW files in your project.
I would suggest also to switch to BRAW Studio (our plugin) for your next project (It’s better to keep the same plugin for an existing project). It’s not free as the Blackmagic Plugin, but you will not get this kind of bug, and also you could benefit of lot of features related to BRAW files. We have “BRAW Presets” that you can save / apply, and soon you will be able to apply only “partial presets”. With this and the Panel, you will be able to select many BRAW clips in your timeline, and then in one click : apply LUT (or reversely : not apply LUT) for these clips.
If you have more questions, you can contact us : https://www.autokroma.com/contact
Also, we have in mind to give users the ability to enter Custom LUT inside the BRAW parameter (You could load any LUT from your computer then). It’s not sure for now, but you can upvote for this in this form we launched some days ago for the future features which we would want to implement in BRAW Studio. The form is at the bottom of this article : https://www.autokroma.com/blog/BRAW-Studio-Our-Progress-And-Future-Features.

Hello,
Linking a proxy file to the original file is generally made with right click -> Proxy -> Reconnect Full Resolution Media.
Also, there are 2 different plugins in Premiere Pro.
With the Blackmagic plugin (the free one), you can’t link the proxy to the braw because it is not in the extension list when you click on “Reconnect Full Resolution Media’, so I don’t know how you could do for this, maybe by exporting the XML, and replacing the extensions “.mp4” into “.braw” ?
With the Autokroma BRAW Studio (29$ and special prices this week), you can link the proxy to the braw (the extension is in the list and “Reconnect Full Resolution Media” works !). You can test the plugin before to buy it, if you want to be sure that it works in your computer and is good for your workflow !
Best,
Nicolas from Autokroma’s team.
