OOI, any chance of posting up the text results, so we can see them? It is always nice to learn from others’ experiences, and maybe someone can ID the reasons.

February 25, 2013 at 8:13 am in reply to: Media generator: Placement, Efffects and Properties tabs?My guess is that you have docked it. You can dock windows with other windows even though they are not in the main dock.
If so, to the left of each tabbed item in a dock is a little vertical row of “flags” grab that and pull it away to free the tab to a window.
To avoid docking, hold down the control key (Mac has an equivalent key I assume) while moving the window around

Wow! I have never seen that option in Studio. Cannot BELIEVE that Pro would offer that silly choice, given that it’s just ….stuffed.

[Graham Bernard] “We should have a “Start-Over” Icon. I know mine would be worn out by the end of the week. Undo and Redo just ain’t the same . . . .”
It’s called an Edit History. Vegas desperately needs it. It should allow you to undo to here, undo only this…etc. It probably will add load to the Preview but if we are really aiming at performance PCs there is a need to have the option……

AFAIK that applies to Pro only. I have never seen those options. I use Studio.
Also, are you sure they affect render? It may be that they affect SOME renders, where you don’t bother to set your own values. But I STILL believe that the Project Properties are about editing and not rendering.

So rusty. So eager. Puppy in a soft toy factory. 🙁

What quality settings are you using when you render?
What happens if you render an untouched version of the same video using the Sony or MainConcept templates?Nick

You say you got as close as possible to the same settings. What did you miss out on?
Mike has said that the format is not good for editing. So you may be struggling, but at least we may be able to help get the best you can.
Try grabbing a free programme called MediaInfo. Apply it to both the input and out put files. That will show you what is different. If you ask to view Text, then copy and paste to a notepad document or other text file, then post it up here, maybe somebody can ID places that need a fix.
