    No my camcorder is conected to the IEEE 1394 port and the external harddrive is connected to a USB 2.0.

    No it wont playback smoothly. I think it’s a playbak issue because I’m not getting any dropped frame messages and it plays smootly in the capture window. It only starts jumping on the timeline. Also for some reason it’s requiring me to render it before i can play it imediatly after capture.

    What if I’m capturing with an RCA cable into a canopus video converter card? Could that have something to do with it?

    is there any kind of plugin or third party software that would allow for an on screen audio meter that will display levels while capturing into premire. I have the ablilty to adjust the levels of my DV stream by going through a TBC but i want an on screen display. any ideas would be helpful.

    thanks for the tip. the reason i am doing this is because i am transferring some footage from super-8mm film to AVI and then putting the AVIs on DVD and giving them to someone else to edit. I know it sounds strange but thats what my client requested.
