i wonder if your browser files actually reconnected, or are they still 4444?

how many tracks in your timeline?
how many of your timeline tracks are targeted?a simpler approach may have been to use FCP’s media manager to simply recompress your project’s media.

in the FCP A/V Settings, sequence preset page,
duplicate that 24p preset, and edit it so the frame rate is 24nick

if your PSD has a transparent background, then FCP gets confused.
it uses, or sees only the outermost pixels, and squishes the image to fit them.one trick is to put a single pixel in each of the four corners of your PSD.
another might be to add a new layer of solid colour,
then in FCP delete it.nick

go to your Computer’s System Preferences (look under the Apple Menu)
go to MIssion Control, or Expose on older systems,
find Hot Corners, and turn them all off.nick

If your same-settings export is fine, just convert that to h264 using QuickTime player pro or compressor.

rather than drag to the timeline, drag to the canvas, and drop in the Superimpose window.
OR double click into the viewer, and use F12 to superimpose.i think if you start with angle 1 on V1, then superimpose 12, 11, 10, 9 etc you will get the layout you want.
you should probably give Pluraleyes a go,
or better, FCPX, which has a similar function built in.nick

well it really does depend on the type of media
i tend to work with ProResLT, 1080 or 720p
FW800 handles that with no problems at allthe last big documentary i worked on we had 5 FW drives daisy chained
media was HDV, so relatively low throughput.i havent noticed more drives making for significantly slower drives.

while possible it can be painful.what is the format of your master?
