  • Does the FCP 7 have true 24p sequence ?

    Hi , everyone
    I got some problem.
There is a video source shooting in 24p RAW by Blackmagic Cinema Camera and audio source by R44.
then , I drop the video and audio source to tcp 7 and sync both.
but it can’t sync 100% , the video will become slower.
I use the Apple ProRes 422 (HQ) 24P sequence.
but it notice ” use this preset when editing with 23.98 fps …. ”
so i think whether this sequence actually is 23.98 not 24 so that it can’t sync the 24p video source 100% .
and If I want to sync the video and audio.
what should I do or setting ?
    Thanks!!

in the FCP A/V Settings, sequence preset page,
duplicate that 24p preset, and edit it so the frame rate is 24

    so…..
Isn’t the default setting about apple pro res 422 (HQ) 24p really 24p ?
    Is it 23.98 ?

The default is 23.98. Only films shown in theatres are meant to be true 24fps. Video shown on the web CAN be 24fps too, but the more common standard for web video, and broadcast, is 23.98. 24fps is pretty much only in the realm of theatrical projection. And now less so, with video projectors.

    oh~
    Thanks to Nick and Shane.
(so , if possible , shooting with 23.98 video is better , right ?)
I duplicated the sequence and change the frame rate to 24 yesterday.
then , syncing the video and audio again, it’s ok . I am happy to solve the problem.
    but….
Today , I have another video and audio source and drop it to the same sequence which is 24 fps.
    the un-sync appear again.
then , I drop the source shooting in yesterday to this sequence , it still can sync 100%.
    why ?
the sequence and shooting setting are no change.
    Thanks everyone to help me.
