it’s not magic, i know, just wondering if there was a way to create a scene-encompassing multiclip from a stacked timeline.

i suspect that browser skimming might make that unnecessary.
can i see a two-up display of multiclips while browser skimming?

unfortunately, there is no matching code. they didn’t shot TOD code, so we cant even get the angles timed out, and sync them with one sync point.
and the Audio will only get us so far, we have to manually line up the remaining 20-30% of the clips.

we invested a few weeks work in this already, so just wondering if theres some way to use that.
i’m not expecting there to bea one-button solution, but would rather not have to re-do everything in FCPX

especially “Batch change of Subtitle parameters”

a freind demoed a small bit of subtitle work in FCPX the other day.
it was great how they just traveled with the clip, and ducked up and over any added B-Roll

you could cut it back to a second or two, and rather then export / import, just nest the rendered section, and copy / paste the nest.

best thing you could do is to prepare the images for FCP
if you don’t need to zoom in, then make them the same frame size as your delivery.

you still have to render, but that should make it a bit more streamlined

i’ve seen it happen when projects are very old, but don’t know why.

how to recover:

1- FCP Reconnect, can help you reconnect based on Reel# and TC, not file name
it;s an XML based tool, and can reconnect an entire project, not just a timeline.
i’ve had random success with this: worked sometimes, not others, although it could be a bug in the system i’m working on.

2- Resolve lite.
also XML based, but probably only works on a timeline.
XML from FCP, open in resolve, tell it to connect based on Reel# and TC,
then you can probably export an XML and open that back up in FCP.

that probably wouldn’t link back to your original browser clips, but maybe that’s not such a big issue for you?

what’s been your experience?
it’s ok for me now, but i’m at the early stages.

one thing i’m noticing is projects slowing down as they get bigger in size, but sooner than expected
i’m talking around 40MB or so.

im not sure if it;s the OS or the fact that i’m cutting on the client’s 13″ macbook.
