    no.

but it’s pretty easy to find any clip in the timeline.
just do a search (apple F)

if you need a guide for them,
nest your sequnce, and aply the TC print filter.
get them to give you TC references.

they’ll also need to be blown up and maybe stretched slighly.

FCP4.5 seems to take care of the stretching, so a simple blow will sufice.

    225% works for me.
get something you like, and save it as a motion favorite, which you can drop an any RT shots you put in the timeline.

you’d have to render that, im afraid.

no way to work with both formats in the one timeline in Realtime.

FCP5 might change that, but that’s in the future…

April 15, 2005 at 10:36 pm in reply to: Ripple delete problem

ripple delete wont work unless ALL tracks have their auto-select buttons on.

rather than laboriously clicking al those little buttons, OPTION click on one to solo that particular one, OPTION click again will turn all back on.

gotta do it for audio and video.

    what a drag!

Apple + number-pad zero will also turn all vidoe A-S butons off, then on
Option + number-pad zero will turn Audio A-S buttons off / on

    cheers,

    thanks,

i deleted some cow cookies, and while that worked for a while, the problem came back.

i’ve been using firefox to write these posts.
i;ve used it for a week, but i’m not loving it.

re-setting safari sounds a bit severe, but i might have to do that.
any tips for restoring my bookmarks, and other things?

  • iv’e heard that (gotta drag from viewer) about ETT, too,
but when i was using ET the other day, i was able to drag direct from the browser

it worked with it’s usual acuracy, which is not great with FW.
it was a frame off, and rather than try and chase offsets, i used another method:

    Simple VIdeo Out
    https://developer.apple.com/samplecode/SimpleVideoOut/SimpleVideoOut.html

this app DOES send TC out, along with picture and sound.
but you need to have a deck that accepts external TC for it to work

first export your seq as a QTMovie, reference, or self contained.
that will have the TC of your sequnce.
then Quit FCP (SVO wont work otherwise)
open the QTMovie in Simple Video Out (i normaly drag and drop onto a dock icon)
    chose Output = Firewire,
    and Mode = DVCPro 50
hit record on your deck, and play the file.
audio, video, and TC all play out via FW to your deck.

    Simple!

    (and accurate)

    cheers,

as there are rumours that FCP5 will suport external audio hardware,
i’d consider waiting to see which might be the best.

could you see image in the file BEFORE you rendered?

can you see image in the file in the viewer, or if you open it in QuickTime? maybe it;s just black in the canvas?

if so then check your canvas view menu (top of canvas, looks like tiny viewfinder)

you may have accidentaly toggled to “wireframe” mode, so change it back to “image”, or “image and wireframe”

the w key toggles the wireframe modes.

fit to fill might be the way to go.

if you know that that 1 frame in 15sec is the correct ratio,

then mark 15 seconds in the viewer, and mark one frame LESS than that in the timeline.

then do a fit to fill edit (Shift F11, or the green drop-window in the canvas)
