it CANT be done in FCP,
but it CAN be done outside of FCP via XML.

if you are into coding you can try to do it manually:
here is a snip from Andreas Keil writing in the FCP-L:

Export the sequence as XML,
open in TextEditor, replace all “Lucida Grande” with the font of your choice,
save and re-import into FCP.
Do some tests with a few titles first.

dont know how you;d go about finding the font size and colour in there.

sounds like yo;re talking about the finished product.

would it make sense to just export your timeline, and adjust that.
(I come from a PAL world, so dont know if this would work or not)

i suspect if you nested the 17 graphics, and applied one blur filter, it would be a lot quicker.

sorry if this is total miss-informed hogwash…

but i seem to recall reading that HDV will behave the way your;e describing, (audio fx forcing video re-render)
as the audio and video are interleaved.

are you working with HDV?

the famous “ken burns” style uses narration a lot,
something you might not be doing.

a really good photo montage, pictures, & music, and about 3 minutes long, so maybe more up your alley,
can be seen on the beginning of the movie “Soylent Green”
i remember when i saw the movie as a teen thinking how good this opening titles sequence was.
it’s basically a montage history of the 20th century in 2-3 minutes (well, up to 1974 or whenever the movie was made!)
apparently Harry Harrison, the writer of the novel the film was based on (good read, no silly ending like the movie)
suggested it as a way to bring viewers into the reality of the story.

multiclips in FCP seem pretty lame to me.
yep, markers in multiclpis are volatile.
why? i dont know.

what do you do about it?
apply all markers before you make the multiclip.

what if you need to add a marker after you’ve multiclipped?
chuck out the old multiclip, and make a new one.

the way to do this is to:

make a new bin in the browser.
drag the clips from the timeline to the new bin.
select the clips, or the bin,
and file>batch export.

export as quicktime movie
use item settings
make self contained,
use in to out
