It seems that you can not add markers to multiclips. Really?
Also, it seems you can’t make subclips of multiclips? Why not?
    Or am I missing something?
If you can’t add markers or make subclips, how can you organize your footage?
Is multiclip editing only for live editing or films, but no good for documentary work where one needs to log all the interviews or mark all the broll?
    Or am I missing something?

ps – I’m doing this with HDV, does that make a difference?

multiclips in FCP seem pretty lame to me.
yep, markers in multiclpis are volatile.
    why? i dont know.

what do you do about it?
apply all markers before you make the multiclip.

what if you need to add a marker after you’ve multiclipped?
chuck out the old multiclip, and make a new one.

    lame.
didnt know that about subclipping, but not surprised.

Hi yes it’s a bit annoying the way subclips work compared to avid so I don’t use them, just using markers instead, but I still prefer it’s multicam editing. The work around I did was to make the group, add the markers as you want them but don’t change the angle in the viewer until it’s been edited into your timeline. If you switch away in the viewer all those markers disappear. Infuriating.
I was only dealing with a close up and wide for an interview clip so this was fine as I could just cut the one angle in then go through the timeline and selected close up or wide as I wished. If you want to cut live with open gang on you can though as once the group has been edited into the timeline the viewer is displaying the instance of the group from the timeline and not the original master group so switching doesn’t seem to delete the markers. Also, weirdly, the markers stay on the timeline.
So to summarize, you can do it; make the group, add your markers, for safety duplicate the group, edit your group into the timeline as normal and switch angles from that instance of the group. Never switch angles in the viewer on the original group clip.
Hope that makes sense and works for you!

Makes sense, just seems like too much work.
