while FCP can change the timecode,
it can’t change the time base,

you need to run the clips through Cinema Tools to “Conform” them to a new frame rate.

i never work with those frame rates myself, living in PAL land,
so there may well be other things going on i can’t identify,
like did you capture the clips correctly?

  • the image in that viewer sure looks like 4/3,
although weirdly there are what look like grey pillboxes on it’s left and right,
that are exactly the same colour as the viewer.
    weird.

firstly you need to do what Shane suggest, and check your footage properties,
    and your sequence settings

also, in your user FCP preferences,
    go to the editing pane,
and make sure “Auto conform sequence” is set to “Ask”

  • command top-row3 is the timeline

if you’ve closed all your open timelines you’ll just have to find the seances in the browser again.

I’m curious, but have to ask: why should i bother?
what does M100 do better than any of the others to make it worthwhile downloading and learning?

[Ricky Barnes] “Is there a way to “re-set” the real time engine”

    close your other sequences.
or better, close all your sequences, and then re-open your most recent one.

    ah… Batch EXPORT
in FCP “render” is what you do IN the timeline, before you export.

so what are your export settings?

one main point of difference is that by default your files out of Batch Export don’t have a .mov on the end
i wonder if that could be it?

sounds like a gamma issue, hard to pin down.

[Andre Anthonio] ” (MOV) XDCAM HD 1080i(35 Mb/s VBR), 1440 X1080, with a 16 bit little-endian signed integer, 2 channels, 16-bit audio. I was told I could get there with Premier Pro but it’s not the case”

    what about Adobe’s Media Encoder?
i’d be surprised if it couldn’t do it
or is that what you did try?

is this FCP7 you’re asking about?
if not try the FCPX techniques forum.

in FCP7 there’s no specific “batch renderer”, but you can do a render all on selected sequence in the browser.
i’ve never heard of a problem like yours.

you could edit all your sequence into one new one, and render the whole thing,
then news them back into individual sequences

  • as i say, just for the heck of it, here is my match-frame method

you have your original correct edit on one timeline,
and your synced layers, back from plural eyes in an adjacent one.

you park on your first clip in the edit timeline

    f to match frame
Q to toggle to the canvas
Shift Command [ to tab across to the other timeline
f to do a reverse match-frame to find that frame in the timeline
(there might have to be “home” key before f, as sometimes match-frame will only look forward and not backward)

now, the track with the new clips needs to be your auto-select track
and we do a similar dance:

    f to match frame
Q to toggle to the canvas
Shift Command ] to tab across to the first timeline
F11 to do a replace edit back into the other timeline

jump to the next clip, and repeat.

these are the crazy things i get up to on a Saturday night ☺ (here in Australia).

although, i reckon it’s not too long before we have a visual equivalent to PLuraleyes that will make his sort of thing a piece of cake.

    cheers,
