by the way,
if you change the clip’s speed to 24fps,
you’ll need to put it in a 24fps timeline to work on it.

conforming the image to 24fps in CT should work.

are there sync pips at head and tail?
(there should be)

if not, find some sort of sync as close to the beginning and and as you can,
then you can start to figure out what’s gone wrong.

here’s how i do it:

find the sync point closest to the beginning.
most likely you check this by lining up pic & sound.
BLADE both at that point.
now find the sync point closest to the end.
blade both here, too

mark in /outs around the picture.
double click the audio into the viewer.
do a FIT TO FILL edit (Shift F11) to some clear tracks

top & tail are in sync,
now you can check for drift,
and from the speed of the audio you might get some clues as to what’s happened

for VERY simple work you can keyframe the built-in 8-point garbage matte.

these seem better than the apple ones in other ways:
if the shape is regular, but moving, you can make a mask, then keyframe the placement.

i had problems with that, but 8 points is just not enough, so i use these.

so what is it you;re trying to do?

is it something you can do in Compressor?

i think compressor can network render,
i know FCP cant.

a couple of questions first:

will you want to swap projects back and forth, and have them seamlessly open on each others system?
(i cant see why you would NOT want that!)

the best way to do that is to have tow sets of drives that are identical in the way the files are stored.
exact same folder structure.
and exact same drive names.

using Media Manger isn’t the best way to achieve this.

maybe the best way would be to use a cloning app to make duplicates of the drives?

the FCP MM cannot direct Media to 2 separate drives.
if you RAIDED the drives so it saw only one,
you could do it.

i’m a Quickeys (Macro App) user for these sorts of things.

in fact i made a macro for turning all markers into Chapter Markers.
you can have it if you want.

you could easily modify it to ad the markers, too, i think.

and you can grab the motion path in the canvas, in “image & wireframe” mode

i had some stills that caused banding problems.
i was off-lining in DV sequences, and the banding was pretty noticeable.

but when i;d finished my cut i changed the sequence settings to PhotoJpeg.
i think the Quality was set to 75%

i rendered and exported, then made Standard Def PAL DVDs for a theater show,
and the photos looked great.

dont know if this will help as you’re starting with DV
you could also add the colour smoothing filter to the clip.

you can trash your preferences.
that will re-set every thing to the defaults.
if you have anything in your favorites folder,
copy them all into a new “favorites” project.
the favorites folder will be re-set to blank!
