But seriously, do you mean a keyframed mask or using a alpha or luma matte or something? (It does all of these that I mentioned) Are you referring to something different?

If you mean Rotoscoping, no. You can add Silhouette Roto as a plugin or stand alone if you need to rotoscope a lot. You can also use Motion for simple to medium duty rotoscoping. Or you can rotoscope in a separate application like Shake, After Effects or Combustion.

If you’re asking if you can use an existing traveling matte to a shot to cut it out, yes. That’s done quite easily.

for VERY simple work you can keyframe the built-in 8-point garbage matte.

for more complex work there are some FREE 16, 32 & 64 oint garbage mates from PAul Crisp

these seem better than the apple ones in other ways:
if the shape is regular, but moving, you can make a mask, then keyframe the placement.

i had problems with that, but 8 points is just not enough, so i use these.
