but not with normalisation the FCP sees it.

that just sets the loudest peak in your clip to your designated db.
if it’s a nested sequence,
that just be setting one overall level for the whole show,
which is what you’ve got already!

in FCP “Normalise” isnt a “Normalise” filter, that analyses the audio and adjusts it dynamically
its just process that adds a simple Gain filter to each clip.

you could export your program and drop that into Something that has a normalisation tool the way what most people understand it.
SoundTrack Pro, would probably do the job.

that’s a yes on “you can do all at once”
and a no on “it’s not a filter”

you don’t apply it like a filter,
but when you run the normalise process, (Modify Menu > Audio > Add Normalisation Gain) FCP adds a gain filter to each clip.

make it faster by setting a keyboard command for it

problem with FCP’s normalise is that it makes the adjustment for the whole clip, based on the loudest point.

don’t copy / paste attributes…
use Motion favourites!

select an effected clip in the timeline, or have it open in the viewer,
Effects > Make Favorite Motion (Controf f)

a motion Favourite will appear in your favorites bin (Apple 6 to view)
it will be named after the clip it came from, and now is the time to re-name it “box1”, or “upper left” or what ever works for you.

you can drag thes emotiun fave from hte favorites bin onto a clip, OR GROUP OF CLIPS to apply the motion effect.
(you can aso copy them into yrou project, where they igt be easier to get at)

but the REAL power of these comes when you assign a keyboard comand to them.

make your 6 faves and call tehm 1-6 in some way.
now open the keyboard cutomize window (option h)
type “motion” into the search window,
you will see 8 “Motion Path Favourite” commands.

the defaults dont work for me, so i use Control Apple 1-8 (number pad)
these will now trigger the 1st 8 saved motion effects in your favorites bin.
so for me, i can select a clip, or group of clips, Ctrl Apple 1 makes it a left-hand box, Ctrl Apple 2 makes it a right hand box

sounds like a bit of work, but it’s invaluable.

one thing i’ve been doing latley is loading a clip from the browser into the viewr, and adding my motion effec there.
then it gets cut into the timeline with the effect applied.

you are using it right.
that’s what the strobe filter does.

you want to adjust the SPEED of the clip.
(as outlined in my previous post)

you can speed the clip up by 500% to achieve this.

FCP will generally give you an *aproximation* of the speed you request
the real trick with this, if you need accuracy, is to start with a number that deides evenly by the speed you need to apply.

your clip for instance should be a number of frames that is divisible by 5.

right or control click in the TC fields in the viewer, canvas & timeline and choose “Frames”
now you can see your duration in frames.
adjust the duration of your clip to be 5-friendly,
and change the speed (Apple J) to 500%

the first part also seems very simple, and could be done with only a few keystrokes.
doing this with XML would probably take longer.
can you be a bit more specific about what you need to do?

dont know if this is the same technology or not,

but i just did a test with my Intensity pro card,
and the Up-res was pretty soft.

i get better results in the FCP timeline (set to best quality motion scaling)

the Intensity up-res was softer, with a slight colour cast.

unexpected results!

i did a quick test, and the FCP upres is clearly better than the Intensity one.
(timeline set to best quality motion scaling)

the image is sharper, plus the Intensity up-res adds a colour cast.

so that makes life a bit easier…
i’ve got Instant HD, so maybe i’ll test that when it;s all over.

i’ll still be using Intensity to capture, but just to ProRres PAL
much easier to work with.

there are some columns in FCP that just wont go into a batch list.
source is one of them.

is there ANOTHER column that has the clip names?

if not here’s an idea:
make a COPY of your project first, and do this in the copy.

get al your audio clips together,
sort your columns by something other than name.
Reel & media start is good
(click on “Reel”, hold SHIFT and click on Media Start)

export a batch list with the current clip names,
then select all the audio clips,
and chose Modify > Rename > Clip to MAtch File

all the clips will adopt the FILE names
but wil still be sorted in the same order

export another batch list.
you can undo if you want, and teh names should revert,
but this is a copy project, so maybe no need to.

open both batch lsits,
and do a copy/paste of the columns.

ther might be some Cinema Tools Approach,
but i think this should work.

looking in my Intensity System Prefs,

the “Output Processing” pulldown has these 2 HD to SD options:

HD to SD Letterbox 16:9
HD to SD anamorphic
