i don’t think you can rip a MENU with Mpeg Streamclip.
can you???

maybe youll have to capture the output of your DVD player somehow,
via a capture card, or camera or deck, etc, etc
OR
run the DV on your compute and use some screen-capture software.
iSHowU is cheap & good.

sure, but it’s easy to lose a tape number even after it’s been entered.

if you close and re-open log & transfer, the reel re-sets to 001.
heck, if you open log & transfer after putting the tape in the deck, the reel is set as 001,
and there’s no warning.

it’s not just sloppy editors / assistants
tapes can be labbeld wrong.
or maybe you have two people logging rushes at the same time,
and there are identical tape numbers,
so it wouldn’t be caught until later.

or you have some media with no reel# and you want to give it one.

lots of reasons.

no offense, but thats just being silly!

especially in FCP, where it’s so easy to windup with reel “001”

mistakes get made, reel numbers can be entered incorrectly by anyone in the chain
that’s why we have the tools to change them.

it should work.
as john mentions, you need a reel# on all clips.

one more thing to try would be a two-stage media manage.

when you “Collapse” a multiclip, the clip actually remains a multiclip, just collapsed (it can be UN collapsed)
in XMLs, the clip is still flagged as a multiclip,
so im guessing a collapsed multi would survive media management, and still be able to be un-collapsed.

however, in the Media Manager there is a check box to include other multiclip angles or not.
try that and see if it helps.

otherwise a 2-step plan would be to:

COPY
DONT DELETE UNUSED
DONT INCLUDE MULTICLIP ANGLES

and then:
COPY
DELETE UNUSED

one more handy tip:

when you go to do the batch re-name,
right click on the Reel# yo are matching the others to.

the reel# you click on will always be the reel# at the top of the list.

handy if you’ve got a few reels in there.

running:
23″ Cinema Display (Old school clear plastic type)
19″ LG monitor 800 x 600 @ 60 Hz

in my case i am playing Standard Def ProRes,
both PAL and NTSC

yep, im getting that too.

the upgrade seems to have broken my Desktop Preview.
it was working fine till now,
now it stutters,
and if i switch off Mirroring, it wont play at all!

i’m using Prores PAL, at both 24 and 25fps

did all the things you tried, too.

i can only hope there’s a rapid response to this.

that’s good, but now i’ve now got some bad news:

i am now getting very clunky playback on Digital Cinema Desktop Preview.

footage and sequences are ProRes PAL.

while the image plays perfectly in the viewer or canvas,
it has a “Dropping frames” look on the Desktop Preview.

when i turn mirroring OFF, i get NO payback at all,
just a frozen frame!

i trashed my prefs (that’s trashed, not restored from a backup)
and the problem persists.

guess i’ll have to try a re-instal, but wont get to that for a while,
so just wanted to post a warning.

has anyone else seen this?
