Desktop Preview from Laptop now stutters
I hate to cry wolf…
But I’ve been happily cutting this feature using ProRes HQ (waiting for the DIT to create LT to keep our storage moderate) and all was going great working off my MBP. I’m just monitoring in “Desktop Preview Main Fullscreen” out the DVI to an LCD monitor and it’s been fine- except one day last week it started stuttering only on the fullscreen, not on the laptop screen. I restarted and all was well. Today I accepted my Mac’s desire to install the Apple ProApps system update that Software Update said I needed, and low and behold I’m stuttering again. Could be coincidence.Here’s what I’ve done…
Tested ProRes Proxy to see if bandwidth needs had gotten restricted… still stutters
Trashed preferences, fixed permissions even. Tried Desktop Preview Raw, Normal.Any thoughts?

yep, im getting that too.
the upgrade seems to have broken my Desktop Preview.
it was working fine till now,
now it stutters,
and if i switch off Mirroring, it wont play at all!i’m using Prores PAL, at both 24 and 25fps
did all the things you tried, too.
i can only hope there’s a rapid response to this.

Update- just because I had nothing better to do with 5 days of dailies staring me in the face, I reinstalled FCP3 last night, and of course it still stutters. Not sure if doing that undid the ProApps update but program said it was at version 7.0 (says 7.0.1 after update). It’s acting like there’s a window overlapping the preview monitor, but there isn’t.
Did I say I trashed prefs, created new project, tried playing off a different hard drive…. still stutters.Brian Berdan
