Hi Guys looks like i’ve cracked it. the deck has converted it to the right frame rate. the trouble i had earlier seems to be that the were a couple of unmarked scense that were shot at 48fps

If The file is corupt then just recapture it.

Go to your log bin then make the file off line (it will ask you if you want to delet media if unsure click leave file on disk, move the media to an other destination) and then recapture using the off line file to give you the correct timecode. (ctl click on the off line file and then select batch capture)

all you clips should automaticly reconect.

    Hi Gary

Yes our DOP did set it at 60 hrz vs 59.94 as at the time we felt that true 24 frams was better to go back to a film print.

i’m kicking my self. i have a big target on my pants if anyone else wants to kick me too

    Thank Walter

the FCP HD MANUAL says that there is a difference on the varicam between 60/ and 59.94 and that you should avoid filming(capturing) at 60

is there any thing you can suggest?

what is your source file? Does it play back in quick time? is the data rate to high for your drives?

you could try recompressing the source file in media manager?

a bit more info would be nice

i have to agree with these guys, also HDV is processor intensive therefore any rendering or exporting can take between 3-5 times as longfor HDV asit does for DV Cam

    HI Chris

Thanks for your help, forgive me, but i’m not sure if i totaly understand. in Davids Tutorial you can set the time code on the edit to tape window when you black the tape. (is this correct?)

then you black the tape and at that point shouldn’t the time code generated in the edit to tape window be reflected on the tape?

or are you saying that you set the timecode on the deck, black the tape then do the edit to tape which will lay the project back out to tape starting at the timecode in point that has been set on the edit to tape window

i appologes for my lack of knowledge.
