    Thanks Gary

yes the deck is set to regen. there may be another problem – i had to reinstall my Kona LHe Driver last night, it seems to corrupt really easily.

the picture on my monitor wasn’t moving as it was on my canvas window. i checked the data rate of my raid and it’s plenty fast enough (at 50% full i have 350mbps write 250mbps read)

i’ve been using the Kona 10bit pal codec (27mbps) with two streams on Studio 2 the driver version is 4.0. Are there any known issues with the new Kona LHe Driver. this is becoming a nightmare. i have support guys who i’ve booked to come in but they cant make it till after my deadline.

the driver is fine now but i’ve had to reinstall this 3 times in two weeks

not all is lost on this project i can get away with any old timecode but it’s not proffesional and it’s worrying that this is not working.

    thanks again

    Hi Guys

thanks for you help. i’ve tried David Battistella advice and still no joy with time code out even if i use the edit to tape function as detailed in his tutorial (which was great)

the deck is pall and it has rs422 in and out (i’m attached to the in). i know i should have a black burst generator but it shouldn’t stop me from geting timecode out onto the deck. everything works perfectly, good capture, no problem with deck contro, and it records picture and sound with edit to tape and or print to tape.

    But alas no time code.

This is probably down to my ignorance. i’ll do a little more reaserch.

    Thanks again

    Thanks margus

we are actualy in the process of trying this out. i still have a problem of getimg the project renderd. when i send it to compressor it hangs and then falls over.

i’ve now reinstalled the system 3 times.

i’ve managed to get compresser to cluster which on every other project i have works a dream but this one is as slow as a snail.

    you guys are life savers

    thanks

one other thing apparently applications on tiger can only use up to 4 gig of ram so i don’t think ram is the answer.

i think planning the project out in fine detail is the only way.

doe’s motion use proxies or wire frame?

i does’nt look like it. i may have no choice but to swap to AE or Nuke if my planing doesn’t work.

    Hi Guys

thanks for your words of wisdom. i’ve been doing some home work and am a little worried. i actually have 120 streems of video.

i’v now captured some footage at pro ress 422 HQ as you’ve suggested and i’ll swap out the footage that will become full screen with a higher ress to maintain the quality.

i’m a little scared that when it comes to render out it may fall over (it’s happend once already.

i could replace some of the footage with stills when they are not in shot. i need high quality as this will be progected on a cimema screen.

i dont think that motion can work in proxies. i was toying with the idea of going back to afteraffects or nuke?

really good advise from you all. am i just going to be in for trouble?

    thanks again guys

    Nick
