Where would I find MDI mode? Working with the two programs today, I found that if I open Graffiti in Premier and then hit the Premier radio button, I can either restore or maximize Premier and the problem goes away. Very strange…

Last post was a good bit of advice. I’ve been involved in “corporate video” since 1983! Take it from me- it’s all about networking! Build your skills with your wedding business and MEET PEOPLE! I can trace all of my clients over the years to a few key people I made strong relationships with. Word of mouth is everything. Yellow Pages- 20 years of wasted money. Flyer and mailers- .05% response at best. Cold Calls- bigggg waste of time- nobody wants to talk to you.

Market yourself at every wedding you do. Be professional and people will come to you! Have a great looking “business like” business card to hand them when they do.

NEVER work for free or for cheap. And lastly- my corporate clients don’t understand why I don’t do weddings! They always think I do. Wedding video is a respectable venue- when it’s done professionally!

Good Luck and GO MEET PEOPLE!

Thanks for all of the advice. In the end I’m charging them $2400 for about 6 hours of shooting that I’ll edit into a three minute recap set to music. My travel and room are being paid for and I got half up front.

    David,

Thanks for the reply. I can’t get $1000 a day for HIGH END production anymore, my clients would rather just not do the video! I’ve been doing corporate work for over 20 years and it just keeps getting worse.

    Of course, I’m in Cleveland.

    Dave,

This is what I have found to be the biggest problem with video in general. I’ve been at this for over 20 years and people still don’t want to pay me much more. It is much easier to work at Walmart!

Computers don’t really make things faster. If you want to spend less time editing events, start by SHOOTING smarter.

In any case, at the end of the day if you can’t make at least $25 an hour, forget it. You’ll just burn yourself out. And your equipment, too.

    IMHO,

Thanks for the help. I tried these settings and got GREAT results:

Import the footage, then Interpret footage, Seperate Fields, Lower First, Motion Dection On (Seems to be the key to making interlaced video work)

Render Settings- Quality Best, Resolution Full, Field Render Lower First

Output Module- Click on lossless, Format Options- Microsoft DV

I’m getting back what looks like better footage than I’m putting in!
