ACK!
I had that problem trying to use the cinema 4d flash export setting with leaf particles. The issue is that each leaf is a polygon — with an alpha channel texture. For some reason anything vector based out of cinema 4d does not recognize the alpha texture for an alpha — let me clarify. Cinema will only create an alpha of polygons…not of the textures.
You can trace them (the leaves) in illustrator, and import the splines into c4d, and then create a leaf polygon — then add the texture. Or even trace it in cinema 4d itself. Swap out the old leaf with the new leaf, badda bing.

You can achieve almost all of the effects from plug ins from standard after effects effects. Minus particular and the invigorator. All you really need to do is push the envelope…what about when shine didn’t exist? Light rays still did — I think it is very important to learn the core effects in ae before you go out and buy plug ins. The manual doesn’t do a super good job of explaining how the effects can be used together…which is important.
But to plug-in masturbate… tinderboxset/zaxwerksglint/glow/invig/trapcode is a powerful combination — and carries a powerful pricetag also.

What is so good about ae7? The flash export? New particle generator presets?
It seems that all of the things I’ve (we as a community) have worked on are going to be made easier. But this doesn’t make any sense to me — action scripting in flash is now back to the old style where its just coding — but ae is going in the other direction and making it easier for anyone to use. Is this good or bad? I guess I’m just tired of having people say to me “oh yeah thats easy I can do that…” and more of those comments have arisen since motion and now with AE7 —- you can teach a monkey to animate. (sorry if thats cynical guys — but some people just piss me off when they think creating opens/fill etc. is a walk in the park)
I can’t tell if the new ae7 is a positive or negative thing. Anyone know of any cool new rumored features for it?
Ie: better motion tracker?Nicholas Toth

get the avid codec and drop it in your codecs folder —
mmmmmm meridianI’ve had a thousand problems with the same thing. I found that if you stick with the avid_uncompressed meridian that the quality is alright and pretty consistent — and its very avid friendly. This is coming from a 3d/ae guy too — so it might work — or it might not.
best of luck!

Funny question that I bring up —- but where can you download the software for the timelapse? I’ve done it with an d70 before — but they had all the software in house and claimed they got it for free from nikon.com.
Anyone anyone!
Its nice too because HD timelapse footage looks AMAZING out of a digital SLR.Nicholas Toth

set your active camera to your top camera — make sure your focus distance is right and bump up your aperature — you might need to key frame your focus distance — then break out your after effects manual and read up on it
