Good morning John, thanks again again,
I did open Vegas, File>Capture Video and choose HDV instead of SD and
captured my HD source OK..BUT they come out many many small clips..
I can see in Vegas capture window IN & OUT markers , capture IN & OUT…but they’re all gray out and i wanna use these functions because when i downconvert CAP. using Video Cap 6 (in different project) i would be able to
mark IN & OUT points as DV tape is running and CAP IN & OUT points
the captured file i get is one long file (not broken) So,the point is trying to get Vegas cap. one continuos long file instead of hundred small clips.

I have a question about Capture. I have a Sony FX1000 and when choose downconvert (for SD 720×480) to CAP to my Hard drive thru Firewire and using Video Cap 6 (Comes with Vegas) i’m able to Cap.
in & out points (Batch Capture?) but when i try to Cap. HD straight from FX1000 i can’t open Video CAP 6 and get message like ” AV/C tuner is not On or some other device is using it…” not the exact phrase but something like that. I then try CAP. from inside Vegas
it works only for regular Cap. and i can’t choose in,out points to cap. the whole tape in 1 big file so i end up with many many small video clips..
Can you tell me why and what’s the solution to this?

So i guess those sections that i actually rendered out and use them later in the project called pre-render files,yeah?
uhm, i have a question that’s been bothering me for a long time
Does an expensive display card help speed up rendering time in Vegas?
and does it also help my final video output render out from Vegas, or burn to DVD,Blu-ray look better in quality? or mainly depends on
the codec i choose for setting at render stage & trasncode, authoring to disc?

Now i know where to go for when i get stuck. I really appreciate and start to like “FORUM” now, where i can search and learn thru posts, just one last question to clear things before i cont. my Vegas Wedding project.
-I usually render small sections (that has many FX,Transistions.. applied and hard to monitor in real time) and assemble them for FINAL RENDER, would this degrade those sections if i keep render them over & over as my project gettin longer?
-If i see black screen & NO COMPRESSION in Vegas’s monitor when Vegas render thru those sections, does it mean i won’t lose quality at all?

Thank you for your response to my post “VEGAS best quality setting”
You’re right, cause most of my project are close to 2 Hrs so Quality
on DVD is not as good, by the way John when i have a lot of mixed sources (lower field, progressive…) on my time line and Vegas’s
properties setting is lower field first, when final render, do i need
to adjust those progressive clips.. to Lower field in their properties’s media tab to match Vegas’s?
-second questions, i see your recent post said choose SONY AVC codec for render, is this codec better than MPEG-2?
– and last question, how come when click “return post index” i only see my post without see your response’s post next to it? i can only receive response from providing my E mail?

Hi,
My name is Max and this is my first time on this forum. I was looking for some post about “highest Quality” render out from Vegas 9
and stumble into this one which somewhat related to my search, so Pls excuse me if i jump in the midle like this.
I’ve been using Vegas since version 5 and render out as “Video for Window” and Template “NTSC DV” or “NTSC DV Widescreen” I did some rendering comparisons and thought that “Video for Window” would give me the Highest Quality AVI file so that i can import into ENCORE
later to transcode and make DVD. Now reading this forum i see responses to several posts that need to render out from Vegas as MPEG-2 and now I’m all confused because when doing HD editing i recall that i have to render out as MPEG-2 also (for later import into ENCORE), SO what is the best? “Video for Window” or “MPEG-2?”
Would someone give my the right answer Please.
