Hi, I edit in Vegas, using both progressive video clips and interlaced video clips. In order to avoid combing artifacts with the interlaced clips, I have been setting the field order to Lower field first. There doesn’t seem to be any noticeable degradation in the progressive video clips, but I just am not sure. My question is, will the use of a lower field first setting affect (and lower the quality of) the progressive video clips?

If you tell it to render with LFF instead of progressive, it will override the default settings of the file itself and rid the event of half of its temporal resolution. You are basically throwing away half the fields of the images that make up the event.
