Same computer, same drive, so I don’t imagine it’s a permissions problem…but that’s an interesting call – will investigate. I get no error message – just try “Import Files”, and select from the dialog box, but the selected file never show up in the Media Pool. ☹

I’m irked with myself that I went for the Apple Store version (a couple years ago), but what’s done is done. Wonder why the difference?

    Thanks for the permissions clue.

Excellent advice. Will one or more. I haven’t used the rotobrush really, this may be the perfect spot – I was having trouble getting close to the actor’s face.

    Bingo, Dave – thank you.

Not scaling exactly, but I did apply the Warp Stabilizer (in Position Only mode) to make my shakycam a little less shaky. I’ll bet that did it.

I created a new composition from the footage to test with, and it masks as expected.

Is there any solution, or just deal with it? I guess I could go back to the original footage, I only smoothed it by about 20%. Or use a smoothing expression instead of the Warp Stabilizer…I’ve seen a tutorial from Mamoworld, but I was being lazy.

    Thanks again,

June 9, 2014 at 10:45 pm in reply to: 24fps to match 23.98 footage?

    Not in any good way.

Because the drift was so slow, it took quite some time before the lack of sync was obvious. I finally split everything down to 5 or 10-minute segments and synced by hand. Ugh.

The lesson: check your critical settings TWICE. (“Measure twice, saw once” as my shop teacher said).

October 24, 2012 at 6:48 pm in reply to: Missing Opacity control?

Hmmm, good thought, but just tried it and the Opacity controls are still missing on the same clips. Under “Video Effects” I show:

    > Time Remapping
    > Colorista

but not the usual Motion and Opacity controls, though they are present in every other clip (or at least every other clip that I’ve tried to set Opacity in).

October 10, 2012 at 7:32 pm in reply to: Quadro 4000 for Mac – one slot or two?

    Perfect. Thank you.

Juggling the slots is just a delightful experience; one card has got to go. I need to keep my Decklink 3D for HD-SDI, and the Red Rocket, so it’s going to have to be the 4x eSATA port card.

The Resolve configuration manual (for Mac) put the Red Rocket in slot 2, but I’ve been running it for 2 years in slot 3. Am I going to run into problems with that?

    Thank you Toby.

I’m hoping to come up with a one-slot solution, so that I can continue using my current (2 slot) Radeon 5770 card for the GUI. The Quadro 4000 looks like it might work (although the photos look like a double height card, the spec say single, and it looks like the “second” deck is an optional audio piece.

I tried this with a slightly faster graphics card, and the clips showed properly. So I guess I have to look at getting a beefier card.

Any suggestions for a graphics card that will handle:

    Red footage
    Macintosh Pro (tower)
    4K output
    maybe After Effects, etc. ?

    Thank you for any ideas.

Understood re full version for 4K.

And I’ve just read about the GPU requirements. My ATI Radeon 5770 has only a Gig of DRAM, so I may have to upgrade (unless it’s possible to add memory to the card). God knows if I’ll ever grade in 4K again, so it’s a question of how much is too much.

But my biggest concern is those black clips. If I buy the full version AND a new GPU, will they still be black?

    Thank you for the response.
