Resolve 9 (light) not showing some R3D files (4.5k)
I’m working on a very low-budget feature and am trying to deal with the grade.
The film was shot on a Red One and a Scarlet. The Red One was set to 4.5k, the Scarlet to 4K 2:1, both framed for 2.35:1.
When I use Premiere’s Project Manager and move the files over to Resolve, the Red One files (4.5k) show up as black slugs – no picture to be seen. Looking at the R3D files that were copied over (using RedCineX) they appear to be fine.
Since the production wants a 4K output, I have limited options. I’m willing to bump up to the full Resolve, but not if I’m not going to be able to correct 2/3 of the film. Any ideas?

If you want 4k output my understanding is that you need the full version. You will also need a gfx card with 2.5GB of ram or more. In fact all cards used for processing (not necessarily GUI card also)

Understood re full version for 4K.
And I’ve just read about the GPU requirements. My ATI Radeon 5770 has only a Gig of DRAM, so I may have to upgrade (unless it’s possible to add memory to the card). God knows if I’ll ever grade in 4K again, so it’s a question of how much is too much.
But my biggest concern is those black clips. If I buy the full version AND a new GPU, will they still be black?

I tried this with a slightly faster graphics card, and the clips showed properly. So I guess I have to look at getting a beefier card.
Any suggestions for a graphics card that will handle:
Red footage
Macintosh Pro (tower)
4K output
maybe After Effects, etc. ?Thank you for any ideas.

I’m hoping to come up with a one-slot solution, so that I can continue using my current (2 slot) Radeon 5770 card for the GUI. The Quadro 4000 looks like it might work (although the photos look like a double height card, the spec say single, and it looks like the “second” deck is an optional audio piece.
