I’m not sure you can do the re-routing while capture, unless there’s some option in the VTR itself.

Else, the other option is to capture as is. Then place the captured clip in an FCP timeline. Set the sequence settings for 8 tracks all dual mono. Then rearrange the tracks the way you need to. Assign each track’s output where you need it to go. And export the sequence self-contained. Now the tracks will occupy the places you need them to.

Alternately, in QT player 7 there may be a way to arrange the tracks in Movie properties. Maybe.

From the Canon UK site, the Canon 550D which is what its called in EU/UK can shoot
1920 x 1080 (29.97, 25, 23.976 fps)
1280 x 720 (59.94, 50 fps)
640 x 480 (59.94, 50 fps)

And from the DP review site, the Canon T2i which is what its called in the US can shoot
1080p @ 30, 25 or 24 fps

In SoundTrack Pro there is a spectral display which lets you see sounds separately. There you can mark the portion that constitutes the noise and delete it. Otherwise Bouke’s suggestion of overdubbing is good too.

Thanks for the inputs. I did a test export in an MC system and like you guys said, it came out as 24 fps.
But I have received 23.98 fps movies from clients in the past. I need to dig deeper and figure if they were doing a ‘same as source’ or custom. And maybe the version and project settings too.

Ok I came across the same problem. On a shoot I got clips with mixed frame rates.
When I conformed the 24 clips to 25 in Cinema Tools the conform went fine but any TC change or TC rate change in FCP corrupts the clip. I\’ll sort this out at the edit anyway but…

So I\\\’ve advised the camera crew to set the \\\’Link sensor to REC OUT\\\’ to off. It was on.

If the clips are on a NTFS drive or a shared network mounted drive and you’re try changing TC with QtChange on a Mac, the clips can become corrupted. I think Bouke has mentioned it on his site. Or maybe he’s fixed it on a newer release.

You need a FLV file as output.
Either Adobe media encoder that’s part of Adobe CS5, or Sorenson Squeeze which ships with every copy of Avid Media Composer can create these from a Quicktime.
There’s also a Quicktime plugin that let’s you export flash .flv directly from Quicktime.

You could also consider backing up card-wise to Blu Ray. 23 Gb or 50 Gb and the price of these writers and disks is falling fast.

Of course, you will back up the original AVCHD files, not the ProRes converts.
