  • Wow, that’s pretty nifty. I’ll have to try it. Thanks, Todd!

Thanks guys. Also, I’m curious what the corporate industry is doing. What are shows like the Conan O’Brien show are doing? I know they made a hilarious mock video of FCP X when it first came out, but I wonder if shows like theirs are keeping FCP X or moving to something else. Any word on that?

Btw, here’s that Conan video in case you haven’t seen it. It just makes me crack up!!! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LxKYuF9pENQ

So, I’ve been out of the loop on this debate and came across this post. I’m wondering how much longer will FCP 7 be functional on OS 10. This summer they’ll be coming out with 10.9. What if FCP 7 doesn’t work? Will we have to keep it on a separate machine or partition?

I’m still on FCP 7 and am gearing up to make the move to a new editing program. I’m glad to hear you guys are enjoying the X experience. I’ll have to check it out.

    Thanks,
    Neal

  • Thanks Dave! I had the same symptoms and your advice worked like a charm for me.

That’s great info. Thank you, Mark. I was wondering if that was possible using a gray backdrop. I’m glad you validated that for me. Is it possible to then use a 6×7 gray collapsible and effect it with lighting or would you suggest using a background system?

Thank you for this, Todd. A little DIY goes a long way. Especially when Chimera charges $140 just for a frame (42×42)!

John Sharaf? THE John Sharaf who was the amazing DIT on the HotelPlanner.com commercial I produced last year? Great to see you on here and thank you for your suggestion!

Hmmm… I think I’m going to go with the collapsible assortment. I’m looking at the 6×9 greenscreen, and a 6×7 black and white for starters. I’m looking at the Lastolite brand. These seem convenient and durable enough, but I could be wrong. If I want to go bigger I’ll go for the full set up systems and rolls.

    Thanks for everyone’s your input!

Hi Todd, thanks for the tip. I’m having difficulty finding your tutorial on those frames. Can you add the link, please?

For anyone who might be interested, I found some really cool tutorials on digitaltutors.com. Here’s one specifically on 3d maps!

Thanks for pitching in Mark. But I can’t figure out how to work with this interface, yet. I think I need more time and experience. I tried importing from illustrator but struggled to manipulate points into beziers and such. I need to build a good understanding of working with primatives, splines, and nurbs before I can really tackle this project.
