    Hi I’m new to C4D.

I’m trying to build a street scene based on an image I have. I only need it to be very basic, grass, dirt, roads, and some building structures. But it must follow the topographical photo I’m using.

I have found hundreds of tutorials for complex effects, but can’t seem to find one that describes how to build a street scene that resembles something like what I’m trying to do.

Here’s a sample image I found that closely resembles the effect I’m looking for.

    Sample

Please let me know how you would approach building something like this.

Any referrals to a tutorial would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you,
    Neal

I can’t think of any tutorials regarding scenes this large, but you may want to start in Illustrator and draw out your basic roads, sidewalks, etc. Judging from the simple reference you provided, I would image that you could simply start extruding curves up on “y” to get your basic layout, then fill in the details from there. Just a thought, but I’m sure someone else with more architectural experience can point you in the right direction.

    Hope this helps!

Thanks for pitching in Mark. But I can’t figure out how to work with this interface, yet. I think I need more time and experience. I tried importing from illustrator but struggled to manipulate points into beziers and such. I need to build a good understanding of working with primatives, splines, and nurbs before I can really tackle this project.

For anyone who might be interested, I found some really cool tutorials on digitaltutors.com. Here’s one specifically on 3d maps!
