The first way, it updates the instances of the template in the project, but…if you’ve made a change (say to the text size) in the sequence, the change is NOT overwritten for existing instances (new ones are).

The second way, it will replace those changes (though not changes to the text content).

The default shortcuts in FCP are terrible. It makes me wonder if they even consulted any editors when designating them.

Go to Tools > Keyboard Layout > Save Keyboard Layout and save as your name or something (Amir’s Keyboard).

Then go to Tools > Keyboard Layout > Customize (opt+H). Unlock the keyboard (lower left icon), and reconfigure to your liking.

I’ve noticed a lot of the important functions are buried in multi-key operators, while less used items are just a single click. Go figure.

Yes! But sorry to ask for confirmation…is the picture on the computer monitor then out of sync with the audio. That is, the editing system is playing out of sync (forget the external monitor).

If that is the case, have you tried using the multi-cable instead of the BOB as a test? Or using the RCA straight into a speaker (without splitter)?

If the client monitor is in sync with the computer monitor, then I would think the edit system itself is ok, and the problem lies with the hardware going to the speakers, whether that is BOB or cables.

So just to clarify…

If you play the timeline:
The audio and video in the JVC monitor are in sync.
The video on the desktop monitor is in sync with the JVC external monitor.
The audio coming out of your speakers connected to the BOB is out of sync.

Correct?

Obvious question: did you quit FCP and restart your system?

Which set of speakers has the delay — from the LCD monitor, or coming out of the edit system? And how do you have the audio coming out of the edit system, XLR to a mixer to speakers? Straight XLR to speakers?

OK, that’s what threw me off. It seems regardless that my sequence is 1080p24, I had to go to sf23.98. And you have to make sure all the FCP setting line up perfectly. A lot dominoes, but now it’s working.

Not to resurrect a dead thread, but my problem is similar so I thought this might be a good jumping off point.

I have an FCP project where the sequence is 1080p23.98. In the AJA control panel, when this is selected as my “Frame Buffer”, the Secondary (Converted) Format is greyed out. Does this mean I cannot monitor this in SD?

I noticed that only certain formats allow a Secondary Format. So I guess this is true for all of them?

Thanks for your response. Actually, we do own CS3, though we have been so busy I haven’t had time to do the install.

Is OnLocation easy to use? Otherwise, I guess I could do Premiere for capture and then key in AE…
